Hi, my GE PFE27KSDdSS refrigerator isn’t cooling, but the freezer is cold. I cleaned the condenser coils and checked the evaporator fan motor. The fan motor is running, but there isn’t no airflow coming out of the top of the twin chill air tower. Does that mean there could be a problem with the temperature sensor. Is that what I should test next?

Have you checked the evaporator fan motor in the refrigerator compartment and checked to see if the evaporator coil is full or ice or frost?

Since there is parts variation in these thermistors, how does the fridge calibrate them accurately, so that 37F set temp gives you 37F inside the fridge (for example) ?

A good GE thermistor out of the box will have a reading within the manufacturer's specifications and will not require any calibration to work properly.

I have a GE DFE29JGDCBB GE Refrigerator....the refrigerator keeps freezing in the fruits and veggie compartments..... Also the bladder for the cold water freezes also!? Which thermistor could it possibly be? TIA!

There is usually a temperature sensor on the back wall above the evaporator cover, try testing or replacing that one. Also try removing the evaporator cover to make sure there isn't excess frost built up on the evaporator coil. If there is, you could have a problem with the automatic defrost cycle. kzbin.info/www/bejne/eqXRl62mqduMgK8

My GE PFe28rshhss will go through periodic defrost about every 8 hours. During this time the refrigerator gets a lot of moisture inside. I have a temp stick inside and it will get to 55 degrees for about an hour or less. The freezer seems to warm significant too, although I haven’t tested its temperature I can tell by the food. Is this a defrost thermostat issue, thermistor or something else? Why would both compartments experience the same issue. Thanks!!

Most commonly, we see a bad thermistor cause these types of symptoms. Let us know what you find.

Thanks, I’ve ordered a couple and will see what I find. What should the coil temp be on the refrigerator read by the thermistor is working properly?

@@Adouin337 The manufacturer does not normally list that information as it isn't really a valid way to diagnose things.

Understood! Thanks. Seems like the defrost is every 8 hours by my data logger and the fridge gets to 55% inside with a lot of moisture…

Your GE refrigerator was manufactured by Samsung for GE. We think you will probably want to go with the values list in this video here instead: kzbin.info/www/bejne/gGbFqJaqmsp9hK8

It looks like it wasn't added to the description. We have added it now. It was located in the pinned comment at the top of the comments section. Here is another link to it as well kzbin.info/www/bejne/qHOyiWZ6mbqFiNk
