You were the most helpful of all the videos. I was having problems with the connection directly to the back of dryer and you were the first one to even show the connection. Thank you.

I appreciate your video. I am very curious as to how you will be able to line up the dryer to the rigid connection when servicing it in a tight space that you can't trust a perfect alignment. I'm doing a home remodel and am concerned for the best connection but "flexbility" required when cleaning/servicing the dryer in tight quarters.

You unscrew the Clamp holding it in place over the Duct-work coming from the dryer, and then pull out the Dryer...

Wrong tape. Ul 181 tape is the only tape you can use. Tape should say ul 181 in red letters printed on it. Do not use screws and make sure the male duct ends are facing the discharge direction. Most mecanical code now says 35 ft max length or dryer manufacturer specs. Most dryers allow for more than 35 ft.

A dryer vent should be blowing like a jet if it’s not then you know you have a problem

Never use galvanized metal it cools down the hot moist air ,& then lint sticks to it ,use rigid aluminum, which stays hot ,dryer vents shouldn't exceed 12 ft. subtract 2 ft for each 90 degree bend

code says 25' last I knew and 90 counts as 5'

Great video and instruction but very "Easy" project. My dryer has NO room around it and is vented straight down to crawl space and out therefore you have to pull the dryer "all the way out" to get behind it to work on the vent tube...which HAS to be "flexible" Huge Hassel!

Instead of using that short 90, might it be better to use 2 45 elbows or a long radius elbow? Then you do not need to add the short extension.

I would be concerned that the dryer does not have enough pressure to exhaust the lint to the outside. Other than that, looks good.

Is this fire safe. Question: What if your laundry room is in the middle of your house. (no basement, no windows) what venting system would you recommend
@ericschulze5641
@ericschulze5641 7 ай бұрын
You need a vent booster possibly more than 1 & plan on cleaning at LEAST 3 times a year , whenever possible design your laundry area to be close to an outside wall , you are basically going to have venting issues FOREVER, & the lifespan of even the best dryers will be cut in half or more

Sorry, Mr DIY - you should NEVER rely on tape to hold ductwork together! You misses the most critical part of the job, installing self drilling 1/4" sheet metal screws to hold the duct sections/fittings/dryer outlet together. Your welcome for the Free tradesman advice. You are also using the sheet metal shears wrong, you always cut around the outside of the pipe, NOT around the inside.

The crimped end of the pipe should always be on the end facing the exit or you will be collecting lint at that connection point. Your extension pipe was reversed

Great video to learn how to use aluminum pipe ducting. BTW, I don’t understand why a little bit of collection of lint in the corrugation of the old pipe would hinder the dryer exhaust. 4” diameter is plenty to pump the air out. Please clarify what will happen with your solution of hard ducting when the dryer moves a little bit because of vibration?
@dannyalvens5418
@dannyalvens5418 7 ай бұрын
There is more resistance in corrugated aluminum or flexible ductwork than hard pipe.and lint can build up easier and faster due to that resistance and it is a fire hazard.Smooth pipe has less resistance.White flex like you see on many old dryers breaks down over time due to heat and humidity.the aluminum corrugated flex actually has a seam on it that leaks moisture,If you pull on it,You can see the seam as it unravels .. He did a bang up job on that dryer vent..Some other people would have used screws or rivets on the joints to secure the pipe together But,He knows that it would catch lint and dust which would impede airflow and be a fire hazard..Most cities and counties will not allow mechanical fasteners to be used on any vent pipe...If you have a dryer that is hopping or wobbling on the floor that causes the vent to disconnect you have a serious problem.dryers are stationary they have a tumbler..You are thinking of a washing machine

Are you kidding? Do you know how much of a pain in the ass duct work is? The flexible tube is much more efficient
@jwhite4
@jwhite4 10 ай бұрын
Flexible is more efficient, in terms of minimizing installation time. But for minimum lint that gets trapped in the duct, rigid is more efficient.

Great work. I recommend a squeegee on all the tape vs just your hand. I really want to understand and see serviceability. Please describe (and preferably show) pulling the dryer out and then pushing it back in to its final position. Is there tape/or a clamp? How do you get enough flex/wiggle in a ridged duct install to get to the attachment? Or do you just leave the dryer floating in the next elbow with 10% leakage?
@onlywenilaugh6589
@onlywenilaugh6589 7 ай бұрын
That's always been my issue with ridged, can't pull drying out or put it back and have room to put the end back on. This is why flex is so popular even if you do lose a little air flow.

Cleaning this vent will be a nightmare with all the elbows. A much better configuration is connect the vertical duct directly to the dryer with any UL-listed flexible transition hose.
