I am very excited for the conversation tips at parties! Also what do you do when you are bored at a party because no one is talking to each other and are just staring around at other people . The other things is what to do when in a social setting when you don’t know anyone and people don’t look friendly or talkative? Thanks ! Love your videos!

Hi Myka, thank you for this helpful video going over non-obvious things. I liked the question about double dipping the other end of the carrot, ha! Maybe you can do an FAQ of things like that you frequently get asked!

I keep struggling with this one, please set me straight once in for all! Taking bread from a bread basket that is in loaf form, presliced but not cut through. It's flu season so I'm trying to be careful and courteous of others. My dining companions just grab the loaf with both hands and tear a piece off.😮....another one I wonder about...if you are having a small adult birthday party of about 8 people and some gifts are brought for you, do you open them at the party? I did not because I did not want to embarrass someone if they did not bring a gift. I wasn't sure if i should have.I did send thank you notes afterwards to those who did. Thanks Myka!

I am an introvert and often need to leave earlier but then since I am single, live alone and do not have kids or a partner, I have no “reason” to leave and people tell me to stay when I am saying goodbye and trying to leave. So I often just don’t go at all anymore- it’s too stressful trying to escape!
@rhythmicelegance467017 сағат бұрын
You can say you are working on a side hustle or something else, but you shouldn’t have to give explanations to people who truly respect you. You don’t need to have certain reasons to politely validate your right to leave. If they are so narrow minded and disrespectful of people’s individual needs, then perhaps they are the wrong people to spend time with.

Or maybe they like to spend time with you?

You can always remind them that the later you leave the more unsafe it gets for you to drive home or wait for a cab alone. That's absolutely reasonable and credible

These were all good reminders. Recently, the hubs and I have joint a dinner party group with 2/3 other couples, and we take turns hosting. The greasy napkin and double dip segments reminded me to ask will there be a what is proper hosting etiquette video next? 🥰 Preferably before March 1 since I’m next to host 😜 Thanks!

Hey, can you make a video on how to be elegant during hiking, camping, fishing trips and other activities in which we don't have the luxury of having a stemmed glass to pour our water into nor an entire wardrobe of clean clothes to choose from?

I really like this question! I’ve given this a lot of thought, since I do these things often. I would love to hear what Micah has to say about this. For myself, I still try to keep up my grooming. For instance, if I think my nails will get destroyed out there, I remove all polish and go with trimmed, shaped nails. I sometimes sweat a lot, so a full face of makeup could be disastrous. Instead, l just do waterproof mascara, some lip gloss, and tinted sunscreen. Outdoor clothing may not be elegant, but I do try to choose colors that are flattering. There are a ton of cute hats to keep the sun/ rain off of your face, and keep your sunglasses from fogging up on top of your head. Poise and a great smile are elegant in any setting. I’m sure that’s not the definitive answer. Looking forward to Micah’s response ❤

Yes, I love hiking and camping, and I was just thinking about what I'd wear now, since I am classy in style and looking to be elegant on top of that 😀

There are a good number of books and other info on _glamping_ (glamour/glamorous camping). 😊👍 While I am not normally interested in camping, I have looked through those books with longing... Mary Jane Butters (she of the Mary Jane magazine fame) wrote my favorite book on the topic so far. 😊👍

I would like people to listen to their host about helping with clean up in the kitchen. I don’t like people to help but there are sometimes rude people who disregard my request and insist on helping despite my asking them to stop. Please respect what your host is saying.

Do not ask someone’s age or income. It is generally a massive repellant. The offended person may either lie to you out of spite/self-preservation or they may answer honestly and avoid you from then on.

Practicing good etiquette at home makes it second nature when going out. I find it puzzling when I get to a dish, like dip, that doesn’t have a serving spoon. It’s more sanitary to dip a small amount onto your plate than dipping from the serving bowl. QUESTION: I’ve attended parties that didn’t stipulate an end time. What’s the proper time to leave in these instances?
@mykameieretiquette19 сағат бұрын
Great question! If you are still at a party after 75% of the attendees have left, then it should be time to head out.
@terrirojas18 сағат бұрын
Likewise, as a host is it proper etiquette to designate an end time? What about open house style parties?

I love your videos Myka. If someone wants, you to take off your shoes and you do not feel comfortable doing that what would you do? Also, I use to have relatives that felt it was ok to double-dip (I'm divorced now from them) I was always so disgusted by that.

Great video Myka. You mentioned the pour amount if filling your wine glass at a party. How about a glass of bubbly as the glasses tend to be much smaller than a wine glass?

Thank you, Myka. I like to drink Martinis. They typically come filled all the way to the top. What is an acceptable way to drink it when it's filled so high? I've always wanted to know this. Thank you!!

Thank you for the video! I'd love to see a video about conversation starters and "keepers". 😀 I'm an introvert, and a lot of times, I am okay with silence or just observing others, but that makes others uncomfortable. So, I would love to have some phrases to keep the conversations going.)
