Hey just a tip that I feel a lot of people don't know about gen 4 radar hunting. When you get a shiny patch the chain will NEVER break. It can be an edge tile, 1 away, ect. but it will always generate more radar patches following the battle. The only exception to this is if the tiles it attempts to generate the radar patches in are not possible and thus resulting in "the grassy patch remained quiet" message. So if you are hunting eevee and get to a chain of 40, as long as you don't mess up by accident, if you find a shiny patch you can find as many as you want without the chain breaking as long as you're patient enough to wait for more shiny patches to appear.

Such a great hunt! Loved how you showed the process and everything, congrats! I would like to give a few notes you didn't mention or missed in the video for anybody who would like to know: 1. Any time you catch a Pokemon in the chain, only the next encounter that is in the next patches shown has a higher chance of not breaking, so some people opt to just knocking out instead of catching, purely up to choice. 2. Whenever you encounter a shiny patch, it will NEVER directly break your chain (unlike in BDSP), so you can theoretically have an infinite chain by getting nothing but shiny patches. (Arlie was nervous each time she encountered a shiny even though she never needed to be :) ) 3. Shiny patches (or other patches that don't show your chain breaking) can STILL break your patch if the Pokeradar can not spawn any patches. To prevent this, never go into a patch that isn't directly touching the 8 patches that would be considered 1 away from the player, that way it can always spawn at least the 1 away patch. Good luck to anybody who attempts to Chain in the gen 4 games! It's so much fun and you should definitely try it if you can!

Great video! I can't believe I've never seen your channel before now. I played through Platinum in February and thought I should finally try radar hunting, with 300 hours and two boxes full of shinies I can happily say I've had my fill. This is the exact same journey I had hunting Eevee, never finding/starting a chain, and for some reason Eevee chains would always break super early. I checked my hunting report and I had eevee chains break 11 times, yeesh. I chained five pokemon exclusive to the Trophy Garden (I very casually got six Clefairy, got two back to back, I love those little guys) and I never want to see the Trophy Garden again. So I have eight shiny Eevee sitting in my box needing to be evolved. I loved this video, I can't wait to see more!

9:10 The chain broke bc the player has to have at least one active tile on screen; so when only one patch shook, and you ran to the other side it was no longer in view thus resulting in the break. I too found out the hard way 😭

One thing I love about Radar is you can get a 40 chain without issue in like say 30 minutes but then the next day it could take you hours. Personally I'd say chaining in Platinum is easier and also way more forgiving than in BDSP. In BDSP I constantly had my chain just randomly die for no reason but from years of chaining in Platinum that never happened once, it was always broken due to my mistake. I also wonder if it's just personal preference that some people catch their Pokemon while chaining as I never did that, only KO'd. Cool wee video, radar is goated, grats on the Eevees!

Since some of the other odds for positive things increased in BDSP, they increased the random chance for the chain to break as well and it almost is too much to chain well in the remakes unfortunately

I've done some PokeRadar recently, and a pro-tip is to always look left/right whenever you walk into a patch or reset the patches. I'm not 100% sure for Dawn, but for Lucas, you can see a bit of the grass patch behind him if you look left/right. You'll see _just enough_ to the point where you can see any movement. It really helps in case there happens to be a shiny patch behind the model, or so you don't accidentally go up and break the chain immediately

Good old Sinnoh! So many memories getting the standard Sinnoh squad. I remember naming them what I thought they were (I didnt speak english that well back then). My squad was: Vuuraap (firemonkey), Vogel (bird), Gekke broek (weird pants), Bel (Bell), Brock (Like the gym leader) and Draak (dragon). i also vividly remember a classmate of mine got a shiny Medicham, which made me look for one myself! Never found one but thought it was wearing funny pants so I kept one on my team haha

When I first got into shiny hunting, I went to get the Poké Radar before I properly looked up the strategy, so I didn't know yet that shiny patches were visually different than normal ones. After the in-game tutorial, I didn't walk into the shaky patch with the four sparkles that Lucious (forgot the english name) shows to you, because the game doesn't force it. Just minutes later, looking at the guide online, I found out that I had just missed the first ever shiny I encountered.

Pokemon Pearl was the first time I ever encountered a shiny pokemon. I was in 3rd grade when the games came out, feels so long ago. I found a shiny whooper and I freaked out not knowing what it why the little guy was pink. Lost my original copy so sadly my little guy is forever gone :(

I know how that is with taking along time with pokeradar(Gen 4) and then getting some super quick took me 5 hours to get a shiny buneary at a chain of 41 but then got 5 shinys after that within 10 mins. Congrats on all the hard work for the eeveelutions!!!!

Tbh it's my only and first pokémon game i got. But, not the way intended, i'm playing it on my phone through the use of a Emulator. Seeing the CROBAT in your team actually reminds me if one day, when i was in Floaroma Town with my team, including a lvl. 13 Zubat, which i used to spend the whoke day and almost the whole next night to get it (with the use of like 2 rare candies) to lvl. 51, making it my carry throughout the journey (and a crobat), even tho i never came further than to that cave which contains a trainer with a gengar, i guess it was near the pokémon league but idk, anyways it was a smart play i guess, cuz it had the moves > Cross Poison > Air Slash > Steel Wing >Shadow Ball making it real strong, especially Shadow Ball as we all know.

3:49 There are NOT ANY shiny stones in the underground. They are only repeatable in gen 4 by getting a Pokémon with the pickup ability at least level 41! It's the same with the dusk stone, just at a slightly lower level (that being level 31). You also have to get dawn stones this way at a higher level (level 51). These are the minimum levels for these items, but higher levels make them more common. Note: if you want to do this in those games the easiest Pokémon with pickup to find is Pachirisu in the valley windworks or route 105.
