While the AI can give you a request for gold if you don't send your armies to them after they call you to war, you can't do that to your allies.

Man, I still remember this one war.. I won a war for a duchy I believe, at around 100% another country decided to take advantage and declared war. I fought them off, and again, at around 90%, another wages war. At around midway through, I was pretty tired, and I didn't notice the raiding party notification on my capital.. until my daughter was captured. First time I had a family member captured, and there was literally nothing I could do about it at the time. Now, I had seven children, and she was the youngest.. I don't actually have children IRL, but, to say I took it personally, would be a great understatement. After I stopped screaming obscenities at the screen, I went real calm. I knew this wasn't just a declaration of war. I calmly finished fending off the attacking nation.. good. Now, this one has my full attention. I didn't even wait for my army to replenish, and with no allies (he had at least 3), I unleashed my fury upon him. His kingdom was one of the largest, and over 3 times the size of mine.. and his decade of suffering was about to begin. I destroyed his kingdom. I destroyed his title. I destroyed his family. I got my daughter back.. and I made sure he lived long enough to see it. Moral of the story: Don't f**k with Lithuania.

Hey Party! Great video. If you don't mind I would like to comment a little. It seems like this one is not a purely beginner's guide. It's quite deep in some aspects and a little fast paced. I have Been playing a little this game,had expirince from CK 2,but when you started talking about special casus belli you lost me, maybe I was tired or something. Seems like this part could be a part of "in depth" guide,or may be if you broke down this video in to two or three it would be easier to use it as a reference. But of course I trust your judgement on what length and depth of video is best for your channel. if I may suggest. I found dealing with scenarios, like conquering England as William the Bastard very educational. It doesn't give the wide scope of an let's play,but one can learn a lot from overcoming the difficulties of a particular scenario. Maybe or could consider some "challenges" videos, like becoming a king of Spain through intrigue and deplomacy only. Hope my comment helps,and all the best to you,mate!

There are 2 important bugs in 1.0.3 that I wish you had covered. When you raise an army you can stop it from continuing to raise troops by clicking "Split off new Army" and moving all units to the right (you will have to select a new commander), this allows you to attack more quickly and overwhelm enemies before they can respond. Second, the penalty for disembarking magically disappears if you begin a siege with the army, allowing both you and the AI to avoid the penalty as long as there is a holding where they disembark.

Let's be honest, it's basically CIV level with a bit of give and take. When you are at peace, there's almost nothing you can do to interact with other empires other than once-off trade agreement. When at war, you are basically trying to fill in an arbitrary bar. When the war ends, you are forced to sit through 5 yrs of forced peace in which time there's absolutely nothing to do. I'm confused about claims completely. I was able to declare war with Desmond to get the whole Monster duchy. When I won, the only option was to release the enemy from prison and make him my vassal. I wanted the county for myself to hold or make somebody vassal. His eldest son has implicit claim. His older brother has pressed claim. So I wouldn't mind makine one of them the holder as my vassal. How to do it? How to hold it myself? Or make his son or brother holder? How do I set victory to that war without releasing the prisoner? How do I set the prison sentence for time that enemy stays punished? Thanks.
@GenomeSoldierDK4 жыл бұрын
It is hard to know exactly what your options are without knowing who you were playing as - because different cultures / religions have different kinds of cassus belli (reasons to go to war). However, the way titles work in Crusader Kings is through something called "de jure". You can think of "de jure" as what is "legally" or "rightfully" someone elses claim. This is why your sons and daughters automatically get claims to your lands and titles (but only the ones you hold when they are born). Anyway, so in your case you declared war over the duchy of Desmond - your cassus belli determines who gets to keep the title. However, if you are above your domain limit (top right corner) you may have to give away responsibilities to your vassals. However the title you have taken still has inheritance tied to it - so if the current primary title holder is still alive (which it sounds like he is in your prison) - you will need to dispose of that person before you can give it to either his son or his brother. Your choice will depend on the inheritance law in your realm. I hope this helps. A final warning though - just outright executing him without reason will make your character a tyrant which can have consequences for your reign down the line - so if you have a more subtle way to do it - I'd suggest that. Also - if you fabricate a claim with your Bishop before you kill him you can just revoke his title (without repercussions, because on paper you now own it) and keep it for yourself.
@shatteredknight11294 жыл бұрын
@@GenomeSoldierDK No this is incorrect. What duchy of Desmond? The whole entire problem is that I am the majority controller of Monster. Desmond is the last county. So the point was about claims. Like if you're supposed to have claims over counties within a duchy you have majority control in. Yet the claim list for that county does not show me on there. Only the current holder's heirs. Despite being a county in my duchy. And despite me being able to declare war on it.
@GenomeSoldierDK4 жыл бұрын
I misspoke. County of Desmond indeed. But no, I'm not incorrect. The Petty Kingdom of Munster was formed with a different holder in the county of Desmond. Which means that while the county de jure is part of your realm, it isn't de facto under your control. Hence your ability to claim it. You will not show up on inheritance untill then, because the title is inherited by the current holders children equally. Since you mentioned his brother had a pressed claim - his children will have claims too. And you have a claim, because it is a de jure part of Munster - which you must press in order to claim the title. Untill then it won't pass on to you, because you are not in the same house as the de facto holder.
@shatteredknight11294 жыл бұрын
@@GenomeSoldierDK No you are incorrect. I don't have any claim on it. Before or after winning. I cannot hold it or grant it to somebody with a claim. It only allows me to vassalize the current holder. Nothing more. Nothing less. None of the incorrect new information you gave doesn't change any of the incorrect previous information you gave. After winning the war, it still belongs to the current holder. Who can become my vassal. Nothing else. As seen: i.imgur.com/bsfRdFt.png

@@shatteredknight1129 I'm sorry mate - I'm not trying to be incorrect on purpose :P but I first need to know who you are playing as because otherwise I can't really answer your question. I had a weird and frustrating situation with war score the other day. I was playing as the duchess of Nordmark and attacked my neighboring count for his land. If you're not interested in role playing & just want to win wars, just have an army mostly comprised of siege weapons, use your female courtiers to recruit a knight with a siege warfare stat modifier & make him your commander, then when u enter a war hire mercenaries to protect the siege army. Especially early on in a 1066 start you'll take enemy castles three times faster than your enemies can, and sieges especially when u take valuable prisoners win wars like 95 percent of the time in this game. Just remember to run away if your enemy sends a huge army to dislodge one of your sieges, eventually they will give up and go back to trying to siege down your castles. Happy crusading!

Hey there, I wanted to ask if you could help me out with a question regarding claim inheritance: So I try to rebuild the Persian Empire (in the fourth generation now) and I had the unfortunate situation that my firstborn son... and *his* firstborn son both died young so now my heir is my great-grandson. But as I only hold Kingdom titles so far (not enough land to declare myself Emperor) the Partition succession means my other two (younger) sons both inherit a Kingdom each. Now so far that is all okay because my player heir (great-grandson) should receive unpressed claims to those kingdoms so that I can quickly reconquer them. However I noticed when my old character died my *great--grandson did not inherit a single claim,* meaning it is incredibly difficult to reclaim the other two kingdoms for myself and would require like multiple wars each... So now I am really disappointed and almost lost my will to keep playing that campaign since all my previous progress is basically gone and I would need decades to get back where I was before. Is this a bug or did the player inheritance skipping two generations just mess up everything?

This is a very helpful video, but it didn’t answer the questions that have bothered me the most. Why do my levies cease increasing when far below their maximum capacity. I’ll be at 3000/5000 and have 0 additional levies per month. Also, why do my levies dramatically decrease upon succession, even when I haven’t lost lands and am only down a few domain holdings?
@romo1414 жыл бұрын
I think #1 is a bug. I've found if you raise them all and then disband that the levies will begin to increase again. As for levies decreasing on succession, it is probably a combination of your martial stat being lower on the new character (including wife/council) and opinions of your vassals being lower (which contributes to your lower levies).

His capital was on the island of Gotland in the Baltic and there were 2 other neutral stacks there, but no enemy stacks. As soon as I landed, the two stacks who turned out to be Irish, both jumped me out of the blue. They had over 1k more, but due to my crazy berserker champions, I won in the end, though Harald was mortally wounded. Then the game told me that I was now instead at war with these Irishmen and no longer at war with the chief I had been chasing so long. I don't remember the wording. Harald died and I quit in bewilderment. Game 2: Early game I vassalized a neighbor using the one time subjugation casus belli, partly because I wanted his learning skill in my council. But the dude never showed up in my court list. I was de jure his liege lord, he was listed among my champions and he demanded a seat. But no matter how hard I tried, I could not figure out why I couldn't give it to him. There was no option in the menus and no explanation anywhere. The only theory that remained was the he was badly hurt, but he never got any better after several years and I had kinda gone all in on the move, so I abandoned the game in bewilderment. Any insight would be appreciated.

For game 1 there are a few things that could have happened - you might have turned into another character after Harald died and inherited their wars, or you could have won your war and inherited the war for that was already raging for that county. For game 2 that just seems like a bug - I haven't seen that issue yet.

@@romo141 Agreed on nr 2, that one seems really iffy because the dude was doing all kinds of things like hosting a feast for me etc. So it's not like he was too wounded to function, he just specifically didn't show up in my court list. For nr 1: Harald died later. The war shift thing happened immediately after I won the battle, and besides why would two neutral armies jump me anyway? And why were they milling around on that island? I know the liege was active in Ireland, so that fits with the fact that they were Irish, but beyond that I have no clue what happened, which kinda sucks since it basically ended my game. I don't mind the campaign so much, but I do mind not understanding why. Thanks for responding.

Short update. Game 3: I can't have any babies. Been 6 years now with a wife and 4 concubines and not so much as a miscarriage. I can't play tribal pagan without being able to make alliances. I'd really like to play the game, but the game kinda don't want to let me :/

2) From the wiki: "The Court Chaplain (learning councillor) can only be changed if the Liege's Faith has the Revocable Clerical Appointment doctrine." My guess is that your faith didn't have that doctrine.

@@RandomEntity999 That's not it. I've changed Godir willy nilly before and after. They can even be women.

To be fair, Paradox games are the kinds you could play for a thousand hours and still learn something new somewhere.

Yo i dont get it, so its 1066 and i got kingdom of england as irish default dude right, figured out i cant get claims on other kingdoms via my religion dude right, so i killed my wife so i could marry this chick with both norway kingdom and denmark kingdom claims, they are both at war so i couldnt even click on anything after clicking declare war, so i just speedrun it to check it and after denmark dude finishes the war i could only fight him for a tiny county, not for a kingdom claim, why is that? also i have a chick with 5 claims, married her to my half brother, but if i win the war the game says me she gets only 3 out of 5 titles, why is that also? and what do i do to gain more kingdoms after i get one besides doing it via bishop's claims?

Can you (and how do you) increase a men-at-arms size cap? I cant find what determines this number.
@PartyElite4 жыл бұрын
Do you mean the regiment size cap or the total # of regiments?
@howardj99464 жыл бұрын
I specified size cap pretty clearly, but I figured it out. No worries.

Great guides. Although you may wanna check the correct pronunciation of the words “temporal” and “absolute” to avoid any further cringe.

Lost a title on succession. So as the new character, i went to war against my brother and I won the war (no question, his army was inferior). The outcome was inconclusive and now I can’t remember what I did wrong or how that happened cause this game is HELLA CONFUSING!! So annoying cause it’s the last title i need to create the King title and now I don’t even have a claim so I’ll have to fabricate to get it which is fine it will just take longer. But someone pls help me understand how I messed up so bad 😂

When you declared the war, I assume you had the right title selected for casus belli? Dumb question I know but it's a mistake I've made before during a stream lmao. Hop into the discord there's a bunch of us that can try and help you figure it out! That's a weird one...

Maybe Im justs stupid and I cant read but the tutorial told me to invade a neighboring realm with only 2 men-at-arms and no siege equipment and I got stuck trying to take one holding for years. I also was unaware of what commanders were so my king was the one leading the charge and he was killed and his idiot son who everyone hated took over. Good time
