Get a multimeter to test the charging system on your ATV here: www.partzilla.com/product/aft...
When your battery isn’t charging on your ATV, there are three basic elements you need to test: the battery, the stator, and the regulator rectifier. In this video from Partzilla.com, John will show you how to test the charging system on your Honda Rancher TRX420.
We’ll start with the battery, where we’ll use a multimeter to check on the charge coming into the battery. Then, we’ll disconnect the cables from the stator to the regulator rectifier to see if the stator is delivering current to the regulator rectifier. Then, we’ll test the regulator rectifier.
On our unit, we were able to isolate the regulator rectifier as the problem, so we’ll show you how to replace the regulator rectifier on your Honda Rancher 420 and get back on the trail.
Check the links in the video to find more videos on how to test your stator and your regulator rectifier.
