After finishing the video I noticed at 1:36 you said the reed valve let’s pressure out . It actually lets fresh air into the exhaust side to burn off unburnt fuel , most likely to meet emission standards , however if the reed valve sticks or if the solenoid fails fresh air can be easily introduced to the combustion chamber causing a severe lean condition , raptor owners give yourself a price of mind and block it off ! Mr Cuervo racing makes a nice plate to block it off.

Good job. I would recommend you use a small silicone brush to brush the oil onto those shafts. Keep the oil in a small container you can dip the brush in. Wear gloves too and use billet gears. Don't drop gears in, carefully place them evenly into the case. That is probably why that first one got stuck and went in crooked which, when pressed can damage the casing. Good tip on the feeler gauge and Loctite. One the head bolts, probably better to freeze them vs. adding oil to them. After all that work, would have like to seen the start up.

I’m a 2-wheeler type enthusiast, but the Raptor engine is quite similar to a Moto engine. Nicely engineered. Excellent build video too. Wiseco pistons have come a long way from the old heavy seizure-prone 2-stroke pistons of the 60s and 70s!

@@gearhead996 I'm sure he torqued them. It also didn't show him putting the coolant inlet on the cylinder, but there it was. Editing missed it is all.

Man your videos are top notch! Thank you and your crew for sharing your knowledge with the world. But on another note, I sure hope you didn't forget to go back and tighten the two cam gear bolts, cause I don't remember seeing you go back after installing the chain tensioner and tightening them up. I'm sure you did, but that's just one thing I noticed.

Legend has it those bolts flew off detonated the engine
@Alaska75062 жыл бұрын
@@anthonyk6265 Yeah the piston would have had a fun time pounding the valves, not to mention the possible damage the cam chain and sprocket would have caused. But it would have been a quick kill, so not much suffering lol.

For funsies see how many times you can say “That’s what she said!” Throughout this video. 😂
If you did this build on a regular basis it wouldn't be a bad idea to make negitive mold blocks out of fiberglass reson .then you can press bearings in all day log without worry of cracking the block .

oil blend? 5L of royal purple hmx, 2L of synthetic stp heavy duty stabilizer, 1L of 10w30 chemical additive. blended and filled to level. That's a $160 oil change. I put 2L of it in a 2003 YZ250F engine that I put on a 2007 RMZ frame. that oil mix makes synthetic 5w30 feel like ATF.
