This is it!! Looks super easy, on the menu for next weekend. Love the yeast method you show. Haven’t seen that before.

Do you find when doing them in cans that they cook all the way through as they could get really tall

I haven't had an issue, I check using a long wooden skewer, and if top starts to burn, cover with foil

Thank you for the recipe! What is the weight of the flour. I see that you have 4 1/2 cup in the recipe ,but the my cup can measure 125 -150 g, so that would make a difference 😮. I want to make sure I get exactly the same result 😊. Thank you! Дякую 🙏

нема за що! So the answer isn't as simple. I know Europeans prefer to use weights as measurements to ensure exactly the same recipe. Americans prefers cups to weights, and Babushka baked and made food as she felt, so no recipe at all! You are right, weights do vary. What I can say is that I don't pack the cup firm with flour, but just lightly fill it up. As you are kneading, if it feels too dry, add a tablespoon of milk (or water) at at time until you feel it's right. Too wet? Then add a bit of flour. This is how babushka made dough, but it's not an exact science by weights, so the recipe reflects that and allows you to feel your dough. Hope that helps, I'm sure you've got this! :-)

@@petersfoodadventures Thank you, Peter! Is it possible to measure 4 1/2 of your cups ( the way you usually do that) and tell the weight you’ve got? I just measured the flour and the weight = 670g. Is it about right? The Kings Arthur flour bag states that a cup = 125 g, so that should be ~ 560g. And , since I do not have an experience yet, I do not know what to expect. I really want to try your recipe 🤗

I don't use weight when I bake, but might update that in the recipe in future. I would suggest to try to use the 125g as your weight, and if dough is too wet, you can always add a bit more flour while kneading. So many variables to dough, and you will still likely need to add a bit of liquid or flour while kneading - which is expected. Good luck :-)

Going to try this! If I use paper molds do I have to spray them with oil?
@petersfoodadventures2 жыл бұрын
no, the paper molds don't need oil, because you don't need to remove it from the mold like you do if baking in a tin :-)

What size paper molds or coffee can can I use for this recipe? Will the cooking time be different depending on the size?
@petersfoodadventures2 жыл бұрын
The sizes of molds vary, usually people use what they can get their hands on. Baking time can vary based on size, and also ovens do bake differently too. I suggest anywhere from 30 to 40 minutes until it is golden brown, but you will have to keep an eye on it.

I bought it on eBay a few years ago. Also can check your local Slavic store if you have one nearby. Might be hard to find now.
