'Pass of death': The young migrants risking it all for the chance of a new life in France| ITV News

The trains between Ventimiglia and Mentón on the French side have become the travel of choice for those with enough to euros to pay the fare to get from Italy to France and then onto the rest of Europe.
Few want to stay, this is only a stop on their journey to France, the UK or elsewhere in Europe.
As a result they are constantly trying to evade French border control. Some do get through on the trains, others wait for nightfall to walk down the tracks.

These kind came in to my small town in Finland. It was Hell. Those illegals were after local girls and women constantly. They stole from shops. They were high and drunk. They were given everything. Council, social service, church and charities gave them nice clothes which they chucked all over village, same with food aid. Luckily Centre for them was closed and most left to Germany or back to their own homes. They were no refugees. There were guys even from Nepal, trying their luck

That makes me so angry. As a Croatian woman from Bosnia who was a refugee as a kid, as 11 years old, my mother and me arrived in Germany, we were in refugee buildings. We were few families with children and a bunch of men who were alone seeking Asylum. Already back in those time (1995), there were single men from Arab countries but also Kosovo. They always tried to touch us little girl, tell us "I fell in love with you", stalked us. Damn, they were maybe about 20 + years I was 11. This is why I'm SO SO against these male migrants, because the women in Europe will have to PAY for it. Don't go out, hide, go out of their ways. I expect our governments if nothing but to PROTECT the women here! It's completely insane to let so many single, young men into EU, of course they all will want to have a woman! It's super irresponsible!!!

I hear you! I lived and worked in the Middle East where I had my eyes well and truly opened . I could never have moved permanently as our cultures are poles apart whether we like or not. Most do not understand the ways of the west with many actually hating us mainly for unwise involvement in their equally unwise wars. I have witnessed people who will lie through their back teeth to simply get what they want. So it does not surprise me when I some will lie about their age in order to claim asylum or claim more benefits as a child. They do share the value of the west including the sanctity of life . I laterally worked in tertiary education where I had students from all corners of the globe including refugees. I have advocated positively on their behalf when appropriate and necessary. However, on the morning of 9/11 l had a class where the students were all refugees. Everyone was very upset so we took time out to debrief and broke for morning tea earlier than us usual. When in the canteen, a female wearing the hijab declared in a loud voice for everyone to hear “I would gladly strap a bomb to my baby to kill Americans “. Some will do anything to get what they want and sadly that includes putting children in boats. But people in the west are fooled while people with first hand experience are called racist.@@EnteleiEchein

As a Croatian I'm so so annoyed by these people. I educated myself a lot about African issues, and also Afroamerican issues. And the funny thing is, they love to complain about white people and blame the "colonizer" for all their problems, while their lack of progress is solely due to their own mentality. Just listen to a few videos by Doctor Umar Johnson who tries to awaken African and create some type of unity among black people. This guys sometimes says some good things, but nevertheless it's always white people who they think are standing in their way. He for example admits that black American men didn't build a SINGLE institution in America to call their own and all they care about is being rappers or NBA players. They don't build their communities, they don't invest in their children but create a ton of single mothers and so on. So, if this is their mind-set in America where they have all the possibilities to build something, then it's no wonder that we also see in Africa no progress.

Hmm l lived in and worked in the Middle East where I noticed a high incidence of birth defects, disability and mental health issues. Further research revealed this is due to the marriage of first cousin which is permitted under Islam . Honestly, which opportunities are they going to get in the UK or France? There are lots of locals who live in poverty, unemployed, homeless. If the societies were economically strong, they could accept new people. But it is not the case. You are only brining more people who are going to be unemployed, homeless and live in poverty. This does not benefit anyone. Moreover, this creates negative externality for the homelands of those "refugees", who instead of trying to solve their problems at home prefer escaping them by traveling as far abroad as possible. Finally, how about integration? Are they willing to reject Islam and embrace Christianity, learn English or French, obey the law and local rules? Nothing of that is ensured, as most of them (not all, I admit) are just compete random strangers in pursuit of their economic interests. Few more decades, and British and French will have to integrate into African and Middle Eastern cultures.

If the EU genuinely wanted to stop migrants as a matter of national security they could do it overnight. I believe these govts actually allow a certain level of illegal migration due to the EUs plummeting fertility rate. Italy is only behind Japan in the number of pensioners it has, it also , like Japan, has hardly any children and many young people leave Italy due to lack of high paying jobs as an example. The only people who have children in greater numbers tend to be foreigners (Africans/Asians) You'll recall Angela Merkel allowed 1,000,000+ migrants into Germany back in 2015 no questions asked. At the time Germany had the lowest fertility rate in Europe. Now it doesn't. Imo migrants are not to blame, given half the chance most of Africa and South Asia would flock to Europe. The problem lies squarely with govts not protecting borders.

It's so much easier to spend the money on an airplane ticket back to their point of origin and be done with it. Sending them back across Italia border without a fine or jail time is not going to do it. I've heard of migrants spending three or four years trying to get into France and UK. Eventually they will make it and be a hardship on the taxpayers of those countries. Laws need to change. The EU was a good idea but the Europeans need to go back to passport/visa to gain entry to a neighboring Euro country. Laws must be changed or Migrants from failed countries will continue to come until there is nothing left in Europe for them because Europe will be just as poor as Eritrea and Sudan.

You only need to see the entrance of Garde du Nord Station in Paris to see the situation in France. Homeless migrants and junkies everywhere. I genuinely feel sorry for people risking it all for a better life in Europe. Even in London the best many of these folks can do is delivery jobs which just doesn't make ends meet. Like the chap said, if possible, setting up a business back home, instead of paying people traffickers is better.

I'm not for this kind of immigration into Europe but it's easy for us to say that they should return when many of them came from poverty. I think it also has to do with some of their cousins that tell them how great it is in Europe, then the words spread easily around African countries and they all hope to get the same hospitality and welfare benefits as other Africans or people from the middle east has gotten. Also when there isn't any jobs in their own country they come here in the hopes of maybe getting a job or finally achieving their big dream of making it big in Europe and when they realise it's not as easy as they thought some people get recruited into gangs and so on. Western countries has to change the entire immigration laws or the safe Europe we once knew will actually be gone. In some way we have to help many African nations (which we are already doing in some countries) but the help won't get anywhere cause the corruption is thriving in so so many of their countries its sickening. Europe can't take 100 of millions of people it's just impossible, we can say goodbye to all the welfare and the safety of Europe if it happens.
