The plane clearly had the right of way due to the extreme difference in manoeuvrability and thus it was the military helicopter that collided with the plane. Words matter. September 11, 1999 I remember ABC News reporting a cessna crash in downtown New York, who cares if you're accurate as long as you're first. I remember people laughing about it and then talking about Michael Jordan coming out of retirement. The reason no one trust the news , they lie they don't fact check and they have an agenda. My wife was the baby of her airline. She was waiting for the turnaround leg of the Air Florida crash into the Potomic. She knew all the crew members. I believe one survived. The prior month she came home in a total rage at the captain. She said she would never fly with him again. His name was Larry Weaten and he tried to takeoff a B-737 with a stalled engine. The co-pilot should have intervened and aborted the flight. Wheaten didn't have the experience necessary for a jet aircraft combined with sub-freezing temperature. However, tonight they had very good visibility and the Blackhawk took no evasive action. The commercial flight was on final approach. My father has landed at that airport hundreds of times. Something is a miss here. The ground should have seen this one coming.

Look up "compressor stall" in jet engines. Things are much better today. However, there is no substitute for experience. And in the air, you rarely get second chances. When my father retired after being a flight instructor for the Navy, a fighter pilot, and a commercial airline pilot he was proud to say he never put a scratch on one. He was far from perfect. Except in the cockpit. I heard that the helicopter was on a training mission. If that is true, why at night when there are commercial aircraft all over the place? And the air traffic controllers?

Water doesn't warm up or could down quickly because of it has a very high heat capacity compare to many other substances. That's the law of physics. In other words, the water in the Potomac river is still as cold as it was a few weeks ago. Hopefully, some passengers survive and rescue divers are dressed appropriately.
