Great to see the unrefurbished A-stock and old 115s. Remember travelling on those. However, that was a great catch with the class 101. I never remember seeing those on the Marylebone run. You learn something new! Great video as always!

The Class 101 was only on the Western Region out of Paddington in very limited numbers due to the door configuration. I'd be very surprised if they were used long term on the Chiltern. As for the 115s,many were not fitted with gangways between the coaches unlike the 117s we had out of Padd

@ I do recall passing Greenford on the Central line in the early 90s perhaps and instead of the usual single car 121 unit, there was a 101 two car unit in the bay platform. As you say, very rare for them to be used on the Chiltern.

From what I remember, in the latter days of the First Generation diesels British Rail / Network SouthEast were using whatever they had available that worked, as long as they had a compatible multiple unit train control system. This was done simply to keep the service going.

That was a nice exhaust beat on 9466. Almost sounded like 6233 Duchess of Sutherland.

I do miss the A Stock. The A Stock were so much better and the seats were so comfortable. Before the S8 Stock replaced them on the Metropolitan Line.

2:14 I thought 101's didn't work on the Chiltern line only 115's?

No, not normally but from what I remember, in the latter days of the First Generation diesels British Rail / Network SouthEast were using whatever they had available that worked, as long as they had a compatible multiple unit train control system. This was done simply to keep the service going.

No southbound fast mets in either 90s or post 2012 footage?
@CitytransportInfoplus12 күн бұрын
Sorry about that but I did not see any - otherwise I would have filmed them. Typically I filmed in the afternoons / early evening when more passengers were travelling north and there were more northbound fast Met trains.

The Chiltern Main Line opened the way to degrade this line to a local service.
@CitytransportInfoplusАй бұрын
In a way perhaps, although the service being degraded is partly political from TfL who are more interested in urban journeys than longer-distance journeys outside of the 'London' region
