@Peter John most people hate the "it was all a dream ending," and in most writing courses it's taught as a sign of terrible writing since it effectively nullifies the catharsis and cheats the audience of closure for the story.

@@StruggleGun it can be a meta-criticism of the traditional drama structure itself. like a rejection of "good" writing. its only bad writing if its not original.
@StruggleGun4 жыл бұрын
@@leonzhu1301 it can be, but most writers aren't talented enough to include a meta dialogue and criticism on writing within the structure of a story without antagonizing or excluding the audience. Also, the traditional act/story structure exists for a reason, because it is the most tried and true guideline to creating a coherent and decent story. And, every rule has an exception. As my writing professor said, "Learn the rules like a professional, so you can break them like an artist." Also, what constitutes good writing really boils down to what is profitable. You can be as unoriginal as you want as long as there is broad enough appeal to be commercially successful. Most writers that chases originality fail spectacularly from what I've seen in the industry. Everything has been done. The only thing you can do is write an older story in a new voice and from your unique perspective. That's the only thing that will never not be original.

Now Jim and Aurora, assuming they live for another 60 year, again 4 meals a day, you would get 2 x 4 x 365 x 60 and that gives you 175200 meals. Damn, Quarantine got me bored...

Everyone goes on and on about how creepy this is, but given the opportunity, everyone of us would have done the same or killed ourselves. Humans aren't meant to be alone and Jim is just like anyone else, which really means that if you think he's creepy you're questioning your own character. You see, this is why the movie somewhat works. We know that what Jim did was horrible, selfish and is downright murder, and the movie knows it too, and Aurora's reaction is more than fitting. On the other hand, they also show that in the end, the two enjoyed being with one another and Aurora remembered her friends wanted her to find someone to make her feel fulfilled and happy. It doesn't justify what Jim did, but shows that in the end, they managed to help one another in more ways than one.

so, i read that the original story was Jim and Aurora awoke at the same time, but the producers wanted more of a plot twist. the result turns what could have been a coincidental tragedy that turned into a powerful love story, into a creepy stalker rapey style love story. thats why writers/directors should never let the producers alter the story. As a matter of fact, some of the best movie stories are the ones where the producers werent allowed to get involved. I remember that this one director turned down several producers because they kept trying to interfere/alter the story/plot/script, until one producer finally agreed to the stipulation of never interfering with the creativity and direction of the movie. That movie ended up being the epic story, the epic movie called The Matrix

plot twist…… They get in a big fight and they each wake up another person……. Fast forward five years later the entire ship has been woken up

So Star Lord, Mystique and Bill Foster all woke up on a ship, Bill died, and Star Lord and Mystique got together? More confusing than the time Professor X knocked his teeth out with a keyboard

I saw this movie when it came out in theaters, because I wanted to see what Chris and Jen were going to do with it.... and I have to say I was very pleased, even though some of the critics were not as generous. I really like the piano stylings. I had just started teaching myself piano and some of the chord patterns reminded me a lot of Mike Post, and I really liked what he did with the theme from Hill Street Blues... so someday I'm going to get the sheet music for this. The only thing that I didn't like was after the climatic reactor room and rescue sequence, it seemed that Jen's narration summed up the movie a little bit quickly...more so than I would have liked. I wanted a more well developed epilogue and finality....rather than suddenly saying, 'and they both lived happily ever after.' Still... this film is highly underrated.

At 1:49 it's the first time Jim enters the pool and at 1:57 they're shown together in it,as in this circumstance the pool just represents and symbolizes their full reunion about the moment since when there are really no secrets at all between them as they both even know how exactly it happened they woke up; they began taking care of each other (as Gus precisely asked them) by fighting together for their lives too as well as those of over five thousand other people and even this fact joined and reunited them forever.

@Pau Gelabert Sachse Ah there's water in it. I didn't see that. Thank you to have given me and several other people this acknowledge. As for your psychiatrist suggestion,if you would know the work I do since 26 years with full success you would hold such a advice for you without even thinking about it. I must be more mentally stable than a psychiatrist to do that work and if I would not be so those I have around would notice that quickly. In and out my workplace.

@@celesbianmegastar If I were them I would have rotated back and forth in the pod. One year for him, one year for her, one year awake together, repeat. It would have added 50% to your lifespan, allowing them to get to the new world and also filling in the crew while also allowing them time together without going mad like Jim did.

As humans, we are engineered for many challenges. One of the challenges that we are not well equipped for, however, is loneliness. The Covid-19 period of on and off lockdowns, restrictions, and social isolation has made it abundantly clear that we are not meant to be alone.
