Robert Klein had a comedy bit decades ago about being on Jeopardy with Phyllis Newman ("and Robert Klein...still watching"). He claimed she was all nervous, afraid she didn't know anything. But when the show started, she suddenly knew everything.

Paul Anka had to be reigned in by Allen because of getting too physically close to his partner. Paul seemed to distract some contestants by doing that.

I wrote her and asked for an autographed photo, she wrote a note, sent the picture and although the ink has faded (it's 60 years old) I treasure it because she sparked my interest in the musical theatre. She was a treasure. Heaven has a new star!

Contestant should have punched the Singer-boy for getting in-their-face/space. What an annoying, egotistical music-biz kid. Anka was horrible this week (July 1967.) He was much more of a gentleman (and better player) 3 years earlier on P-W. Seems that fame had went to his head.

Cheating, and more cheating. Phyllis Newman was very bad with the gestures. Almost as bad as Angie Dickinson or Eva Gabor. Allen Ludden did nothing except smile and tell her "No gestures"! Over and over. Very bad for the contestants who are trying to make some Rent and grocery money. Paul Anka gets upset when the contestant does not "get" his doofus clue. The contestants are the ones that should have gotten upset when you said "Marimbas" for the P-W xylophone. ARGH! One is a handheld thing(s) and the other is a horizontal instrument with legs that is played with sticks / small hammers. Hey Paul Anka, if you are reading this: The game was called "Password" NOT stare at/glare down, or "invade their personal space" game. Back-off! Not everyone was a teenager/20-year-old girl that wanted a date. You were very good in the Black & White episodes a few years earlier, but not so good in 1967.
