Bob Crane went nearly brain-dead on the various Lightning Rounds. Sad for the contestants. What a doofus clue for "Bean". He said a "little vegetable". Better clue would have been "Lima", "Pinto", "Green", "Garbanzo", "Butter". The word Sailor has often been used in the Lightning round ( due to lazy PW staffers ). Almost every time the clue giver says: "Soldier", and most times the contestant guesses "Sailor" or the next time. Clue could have been: "Popeye" , "Ropes", "Masts", "Sails", "Swabbie". Painful to watch him after you have seen Peter Lawford or Paul Anka play PW.

Bob Crane was good playing "Col. Hogan" on the TV series. His personal life lacked morals. He and two of his show-biz pals were always trying to bed down almost any female within sight. He got killed apparently due to his zipper and monogamy problems. I think the murderer is still unknown.

Desert Flower: You can remedy that problem by watching "Hogan's Heroes" on the "Me-TV" network each night about 9pm depending on your time zone. Usually two episodes, back-to-back. The brand of film used was EXCELLENT, and very good camera and lenses. MUCH better than the shows filmed in the mid 70's to mid 80's. Good program: a comedy set in a very non-comedic place & time. Allied P.O.W.'s in a German P.O.W. Camp during WW2. Many guest actors & actresses appeared on that series. One of the series regulars hosted "Family Feud" and the guy who played P.O.W. Carter also appeared on Password himself. In real life Bob Crane married the blond gal who played the German office secretary to the Camp Commandant. I.i.r.c., the last year of the series. You can also see re-runs of "The Beverly Hillbillies" on "Me-TV" network about 5 and 5:30 am. with Granny Clampet, Jed Clampet, Nephew Jethro Bodine and Ellie-Mae Clampet. poor guy strikes an oil well, gets rich, and moves to B.H., Cal.. The key to "The Beverly Hillbillies" program was the double (or triple meanings) of many English language words. For Example: When Granny is offered a "busy work" job at the bank by The Bank President, it is "Vice President" of something. She looks up the word "Vice" in the dictionary and reads that the word can mean: "crime", "prostitution", "gambling". She got mad and quit and went back home. 🙂 Then of course there was the "Cement Pond" in the back of the mansion. {We call it a "Swimming Pool". 😉}
