Congrats you just earned yourself a new subscriber. Brilliant video and really informative. Never done a lot of work with pastel pencils myself but watching this makes me want to draw with them again.

I used to draw everything free hand using everything you've shown minus the computer. Then I got shown the grid method. The grid is really good for complicated scenes. So now I use a combo of the two. Thank you so much for your videos. I really like how you keep reminding us to keep our hearts open.

Hi there I tend to do the same and grid up for large paintings... then rub the grid away so it does become a crutch. You are very welcome, I love to share what I have uncovered over the years. Thanks for connecting and watching my videos... much appreciated. 🙏😊

Your technique of glazing colours over a grey and white underpainting reminds me of the grisaille technique sometimes used in oil painting.🙂 Well done!

Hi Elizabeth, thank you so much. For many many years I have used a Grisaille technique for portraits, I experiment now with other methods for my Oils... With pastels sometimes the Grisaille technique is a wonderful solution to simplifying all the complexity that we are faced within landscape art. 😊🙏

@@DavePortersArt Yes! The grisaille really helps one to get a handle on all those bits that can seem overwhelming in a landscape.
