I called my brother and asked if he was making this for Easter. He has my grandmother's recipe, and he said he is making it!! Amen. The dough is so buttery and short, everyone should make it at least once.

Maybe 15 years ago I was in Italy shooting for Travel & Leisure magazine. One place we stayed at and photographed was a palazzo in Umbria. This very quiet and quite old Italian woman was the cook and she made an Italian cheesecake that I still remember. The dessert was made with such a light touch and wasn't so sweet like American cheesecakes. Your post reminded me of that experience!

It is a unique cake with an unmistakable flavor ! It has an aroma and flavor that stands out among all the pastries in the world ! Too bad that I here in my city, where I live in Germany, also being originally from the Naples area, do not have a nice Neapolitan pastry shop like that.
