@@puregameplay7916 That is correct, but the law aside, many consider it unethical if the age gap is so large. It would at the very least be considered very weird and creepy, especially from a pastor. Oh my God. You’re fucking right. His tone of voice was not repentant, it was declaratory. It was like saying what he ate from breakfast. He didn’t care. You’re so fucking right. Underrated comment. He kept defending himself and correcting the people in the audience. If he really was sorry he wouldn’t have been able to stand on that stage or look the members of the crowd in the eyes. He probably would have resigned weeks prior if he actually had been convicted of his crime. But no. He didn’t care. He was anxious he’d be ratted out like you said. This makes me so sick to my stomach, having grown up in church this kind of thing could have happened and I wouldn’t have known what to have done as a kid. This makes me so sick how twisted they use the scripture. It makes me sick to my stomach to see how they disregard justice just to save face and appear godly. Using “forgiveness” as a means to sweep it under the rug and dismiss the whole thing of responsibly for his crimes. 100% fucking pure evil. God has a special place in hell for this guy. That’s biblically endorsed too. Just read Matthew 23. Jesus literally would be disgusted and condemn these kinds of people. Half of Jesus’ ministry was **against** the so called “Pastors” of his day and age, the Pharisees and Sadducees. He literally warns people to “do what they teach you but not what they do” because he wanted to make a distinction between actually following the law and acting unjustly and lawlessly as the hypocritical teachers would do. If Jesus was around today I bet he would fucking disown Christianity. 100% These fucking hypocrites defend their faith more then they do their fellow man. Disgusting what people will do when you dangle eternal life on a string in front of them.

I once had a pastor who told me that he once had a woman come to him and basically admit that her husband was viciously abusing her, and she wanted to seek religious guidance since she believed that men were to be the head of the household. The pastor immediately called the cops and the husband was arrested. I wish there were more pastors who could separate from religion just for a second to do the right thing. So many of these people use it as a way to abuse their position of power. edit: As many people have said, it was a poor choice of words to say "separate from religion." This specifically referenced how people use religion as a shield to do whatever they want.

It’s not seperate religion from doing the right thing, it’s separating greed and power to do the right thing. God tells you to turn the other cheek to be patient and loving, to not act back in a hateful, not to flagellate and hurt you. If someone is continually abusing you, you have to leave. (Also usually priests and pastors don’t call the cops due to the person asking not to, which I think is fair to be honest.)

It's the pastors, it's the ones that want to go up and testify the most. I was called to Christ about twenty years ago, but I also started working at the county jail. The number of church folk I saw come in and out of there was horrible, the things they were doing showed that they were not following what they preached. I believe now that was a test of my conviction and I failed. I denied myself a relationship with God because of what I saw others doing, the same ones that prayed with me and laid their hands on my head. I feel that calling again and pray that my character is strong enough this time, whatever test may come.

That's catholic, or some other church that functions like catholics. In most churches, if you committed adultery but repented, you can still be a pastor. As long as it doesn't effect the church in a negative way. However churches like the Catholic Church, have all these rules and regulations that are more about business than worship. A recent priest has been saying lines wrong when baptising. So all these people think they aren't saved anymore because of a simple mistake. Dumb A lot of people think of Catholics when they hear christain. But really most christain churches in the US don't like Catholics. Not the people, just their beliefs. They have idols that step between them and God. A lot of abuse happens in the catholic church too. Bad rep for christains

@@lalotime The Catholic Church, being the oldest institution in the world, with over a billion members across the globe, necessarily has an extensive Code of Canon Law that, ideally, guarantees a degree of oversight and provides channels for conducting business and addressing abuses. However, the form of the Sacrament of Baptism is not a matter of canon law; it is a matter of sacramental theology. So you are wrong to connect the baptismal formula with "rules and regulations that are more about business than worship." On the contrary, the sacrament itself depends in part upon the proper words being said, which principle may be seen in embryo in the New Testament; the baptismal font is not the place for personal ingenuity. The priest in question did not make a "simple mistake"; regardless of his intentions he was either extremely careless or willfully disrespectful of the Church's instructions. Finally, to say that the invalidly baptized are not "save[d]" is to misunderstand the Catholic doctrines concerning salvation, which see a more or less gradual human progress toward beatitude, in cooperation with the divine grace normatively received at Baptism. In other words, if you're going to call something "dumb," I suggest understanding it first.

Totally agree. I was expecting a tearful apology at the very least, but it definitely came off as him doing his best to downplay it. Based the first part of his story I do understand the congregation forgiving him. From their perspective he made a big mistake one time 20 years ago. Biblically there is a separation between forgiving a sin and lack of consequences. He can be forgiven by God/Man, yet still deserve prison. In the same way, his congregation can forgive him, while still not wanting anything to do with him ever again.

@@PistenDeer It's not. The vast majority of countries and US states choose 14, 15 or 16. The US federal government didn't magically get the right age over everyone else, nor did california. Your cultural norms are YOUR cultural norms. What's sleazy is that this relatively old man manipulated and abused this young girl from a position of power into having sex with him. Just because the age of consent is 16 doesn't mean "relationships" like this shouldn't be heavily scrutinised, Age of Consent doesn't actually matter that much in itself because even when it's lower you don't get a big rush of teenagers wanting to have sex with middle aged men and women. I think quite clearly age of consent or not, there wasn't consent here. As the replier states, the guy wants to make sure it's 16 because 16 is not underage where he's at and he won't face statutory charges. "It is what it is" are the words of a person who feels nothing for the situation and doesn't care about the psychological trauma they caused to their victim. Everyone has many shames in their lives, can even a single person earn full forgiveness for all their misdeeds? We don't even know the full weight of our actions, if each had to fully pay for everything we might find that we cannot pay our debt, especially when life itself was already given to us for free. It's probably best to give everyone unconditional forgiveness so that we get the same and we can be at peace with ourselves and others. That's not to say that there shouldn't be consequences, but I life itself is already enough of a burden and we could all do with more peace.

Hey there, I've watched your videos for a while, crazy I didn't see this sooner. I work at a news station nearby here and we were the first to cover the story. Giving some context, I'm not sure how much Charlie went into but here you go: 1. The church cut it's live stream before he confessed. I'm not sure if he realized the victims friend or family was gonna stream it, but there was an attempt to not have this publicized. 2. People from the area said this church has reportedly had issues with this kind of thing in the past, but it was covered up (hence the forgiveness part) 3. There are protests ongoing to shut down the church. 4. The Indiana State Police have launched an investigation into the matter. 5. Other victims HAVE indeed come forward with their stories. We honestly didn't intend or expect for this to reach such a national audience. I'm impressed, this needed the attention. The city of Warsaw is glad it has been noticed too, as a lot of families had no idea, even those who had kids in the church are sickened by this news. Keep up the great content Charlie, love the videos.
