I'm 49 and growing up my father was a minister in the non-denominational Christian church my parents went to. At 13, I rebelled and have been agnostic ever since. The past few years have made me question a lot of my beliefs, and artists like Jelly Roll, Dax, NF, Tom MacDonald, among others, have been a huge part of that.

I'm 38, my dad was a Christian, we went to church every week, we didn't have money, but he instilled to me that money doesn't matter, we are capable, so we donated our time...at 16, he was 45, he died of a heart attack eventhough he was in shape...my best friend, dad was a POS, diabetic that loves booze, drugs, was a cheater and not keeping up with his blood sugar...POS is still alive 14 years after my dad was taken...I lost my faith as a teenager....any God that wants to torture a teen, isn't a God I care about

Let me tell you it's hard but he is there. GOD IS REAL. this isn't by accident. & & sin is tragically truth. & bc of free will. The wedges if su are death. Rather that is for us or our children's children.... & any "religious group" i am nor religious. I am Christian... it's karma .... it all comes back

I have said this in the past o was raised a Christian it turned my back on my faith for long time. Now I’m strong in my belief and know god loves me and is working good in my life.

I am a new Christian, but definitely not a church person. "Split a log and I am there, lift a rock and you will find me". I love God/Jesus, but don't rely on a building to affirm my beliefs.

The building doesn't make our faith, I love Jesus and praise him I can do that anywhere, the church building is nice but as Christians we can worship God anywhere and that's the beautiful thing about it all, he's everywhere

I loved the video, this song resonates with me just because it shows me what my father likely went through when I was young. I was diagnosed with Epilepsy when I was 10, but before that all the doctors knew was that I was having seizures. They told my parents one of the reasons could be that I had a brain tumor and they would need to test for it. My father told me that he felt like it was kind of the point he went from having a passive relationship with Christ to an active relationship. He said he got the phone call and turned and hit his knees in prayer in his bedroom, crying, and begging God "Just don't let it be cancer, my life is yours, just let my baby live". He says now that he doesn't think that was the REASON God saved my life, but that it definitely showed him the reality of his need for a real relationship with God.

A personal favorite song. I relate to Jelly Roll a lot. Glad I found this reaction. I’ve had so many of these moments in my life. Most times God has answered and I will say protected me. One week from today will be 12 years since I picked up a drink. Most say that’s not all that hard but when you depend on alcohol to get you by so you don’t feel and go over 40 maybe 50 beers a night it’s a serious problem. Most of my talks or want to be prayers were “please let me make it home. Please don’t let me hit anyone or cause an accident.” Trouble still happens now but having a clear mind is a beautiful gift. Its artist like Andy Mineo, Jelly Roll, Dax, Merce Me, Cody Johnson, NF stuff like that I love to listen to. If I could request a song Andy Mineo Clarity music video though.

As a parent who has begged God not to take my child standing beside his lifeless body in a hospital room, i really get what this song is driving. God chose to take my son, but that didn't break my faith...the opposite, in fact it brought me closer to my maker

Sorry for your loss. Life seems to not make sense, until it does. I had a hard time watching my grandfather waste away with cancer. The sane man who was a preacher n gave his life to God and saved so many in my area of the country. I resented the notion of God and religion for a long while. Keep the faith my friend.

A song I always liked that puts a different spin on this topic is "Unansered Prayers" by Garth Brooks. It addresses the times that God doesn't answer your prayers and how that can be a blessing

Loved your reaction. I know He is always there, no matter how far I may get away. I know He is always there. He has saved me in so many ways. When I was drunk, stoned, etc. But, it has been Him that got me out of it. There is no other explanation. Small miracles happen everyday, you may not realize it at the time. I'm struggling now. BUT, I know He is with me.

I always found it a little bit interesting that whenever someone gets hurt or trouble or shocked, we instantly revert to something inside us that goes "oh god" .... like when I get hurt like a stubbed toe I say ow or ouch instinctively, when my mom had her heart attack i instinctively went "oh god" where does that come from?

God is with me everyday. I have conversations with him almost everyday. He has a sense of humor and he never turns his back on me. Yes he allows me to go through hard times so that I can grow and enjoy the good times even more. Many people are waiting to they die to talk to him. That is crazy. He is a part of each and every one of us. He is there all you have to do is talk. When I say God I'm not talking about Jesus. I'm talking about our true God YHWH. The God that told us to worship him on the sabbath ( Saturday ). That is the reason I cannot go to church. Worshipping him on a Sunday is like smacking him in the face telling him you going to do what you want. The church praises Jesus but never mentions YHWH. The way you disrespect someone's name the most is to never speak it.

My dad always said there's no atheist in a foxhole. You'll either be yelling at him or praying to him. I think that's more accurate in life than any lesson about God that was said through church.

Maybe a little off subject, but I've heard a lot of combat vets say that "there are no atheists in a foxhole". At that point, under fire, troops will tell God, or whoever they prey to, if He will get them out of this, they will be faithful to God for the rest of their lives.

I’m a preachers daughter and I grew up in the Philippines. I don’t go to church because of so many hypocrites. Am I a Christian? YES. I am a RN and. Truck driver now, so I am never home to actually attend church. But I have a close personal relationship with God. I just don’t feel like I have to be sitting in a pew to serve God.
