@Snow Flakesx I know, right? I know some people who keep posting things like "I look fine, but I'm broken inside". I'm getting real tired of it since they are living lives that seem great, at least to me. If anything, I think I'm the one who has the right to be depressed compared to them. Anyways, if you really have depression why the hell would you joke about it?

@@obscure884 it's not a joke, it's a sense for someone else to relate to and stop thinking as if they're the only one going through life like that. If you see people laughing, it's humor to a coincidence, much better to laugh at it than cry at it.

@@sugadadie9322 My comment was based on experience. I know people who are intentionally faking depression and are taking it lightly. I know that some are only joking about it to feel better, but the people I met are not depressed whatsoever. They confirmed it themselves. They said that they did it to "fit in".

I'm married to the sweetest 95 year old woman who is struggling with the challenges that come with old age. I help her with her baths and shampoo her hair and this is the music I put on for her while we do this. I just want you to know what a blessing these songs have been to us. She is suffering from memory loss, but she loves singing along word-for-word with these songs. And on days like today, when she woke up in tears dreading the struggles that the day would bring, she was singing along after about the sixth song and even laughing again. What a lift!!!!! This set of songs is an amazing therapeutic tool for us!!!!! Thank you so very much. May God richly bless you!!!!

POV: I's 1942. You're sitting out on the porch, in a red rocking chair next to the radio watching your little one play in the yard. This is what's playing on the radio, and you're thinking to yourself how grateful you are to have what you have. You watch your 2 year old daughter run around in the yard, in her little yellow dress, picking flowers to put in a cup of water. Your husband comes home from work, and walks up the wooden, rickety steps leading up to the porch. He leans over and kisses you on the forehead. It's getting dark now, so you bring your little one inside. You walk into the kitchen to start dinner. while you're putting vegetables in a pot on the stove, and your husband grabs your hand, and turns you around, and you dance to the radio for a while until dinner is done cooking.

The marvelous Ella - wearing men's boots in Harlem entered the weekly talent contest at the Savoy Ballroom. The m.c. said "Ella the Edwards Sisters are entering too - do something else since their dancing is paramount" Ella decided to sing "Judy" and won. Bardo Allie of the Chick Webb band was so impressed he took her to Chick Webb - who bought her a gown and took her the next night to Yale. The kids loved her and she signed with Chick and -- a star was born. She never gave up and went from one room with her Mother to a Beverly Hills mansion- I loved that Lady and still so.

The tragedy is that while I long for the music of old I know that in practice it was not an era for me or my people. I love the sounds and the sights and the idea of the vintage world but I understand it wasn't a world for me. That's why I love my generation. I am lucky enough to transport myself to those times within the comfort of my home and the society I am currently in.

Worst Username In the World A lot of them were super cheesy, but that's probably how a lot of people in the 70s viewed songs from the 40s. I think we just romanticize the 40s because their lives pretty much sucked by comparison to a lot of the decades that followed.
