Have the Pat's on my tractor and I run older implements that are not all made to the new standard. It saves me a bunch of money buying older used implements so that hopefully I can buy even more. The other big advantage is I run a post hole digger sometimes and Pat's is the only quick change that you can do that with. I have had my Pat's now for about 6 months and my tractor for a little over a year. I no longer dread switching implements either. Thanks for the video Martin and keep them coming.

Just put my Pat’s system on my LS today Martin, with the help of this video and the one Tractor Mike did on the same install. Pretty straightforward after watching the videos, I had no surprises and you made everything so clear that it was a cakewalk. I installed the PTO extender just to keep the driveshaft happy, and while I picked up the extended top link from TS just in case, I didn’t need it. I’ll hang on to it anyway as I may add an implement later that needs it. Took me a little longer than most to finish the install as I serviced the PTO shaft too, watching your awesome video on that. (Best PTO maintenance video on the planet, thank you!) Sure was easy to hook up the bush hog after installing the Pat’s system, worth every penny. My brother went for the quick hitch system on his Kubota, but he told me it is rarely used as it doesn’t fit many of his implements. But then there are folks who swear by them, so there are definite advantages to each. In my brother’s case maybe I’ll send him a Pat’s system for his birthday this year, lol. Thanks for a very useful, very informative video! 👍

As soon as one of your videos shows up on my phone I watch it. As is typical with all your videos. Very well documented and nicely explained. I got pats quick hitch a few months ago because I have one implement that isn't QH compatible. The other great thing about Pats over the QH i used to have is that it made hooking up the PTO shaft 100% easier because the QH would block access to the tractor PTO.

Thanks, Terry! Yes, a quick hitch gets in the way of hooking up the PTO, but it also means you have to get off the tractor anyway, negating one of the quick hitch’s biggest benefits. Thanks for watching!

@@DIYMyWay I actually ran into a problem yesterday when I was doing it. I need your opinion. My Kubota lift arms were about two and a half inches. it looked to me like with the larger shim there still was a lot of slack so I put two of them together to see how it would do. Unfortunately, it was just tall enough that I couldn't get the main pin in and when I tried to force it, I totally screwed up that main pin when I pulled it out. I don't think I can get the two shims apart so I think I'm just going to call Pat's and get a new main pin and some more shims as well as the hardware that you hammer into it. I noticed you had a Kubota tractor and I was wondering what you thought if just the taller shim would be enough or if I should get the shorter shims and put two of them together on each side since it seemed like there was a lot of slack? Let me know what you think if you get a chance and I hope you had a good Thanksgiving this past week. I know for most of us it's been a very difficult year, but I do you enjoy watching KZbin videos to help me be a more informed tractor owner on our family property in Western Arkansas that we escaped to from the city on a lot of weekends.
@DIYMyWay4 жыл бұрын
Hi Jim! Sorry to hear you are having trouble! It’s okay if there is some slack in Pat’s hook bodies with the shims as long as the shims make the hook bodies pretty close to being in line with the lift arms. The U-bolts will firm things up. However, since you have to call Pat’s anyway, they can give you the best advice on what to do. Good luck!
@jimmcknight30214 жыл бұрын
@@DIYMyWay I talked to the folks at Pat's easy change and they are sending me out some more parts at no additional cost and no shipping fees either! I just explained to them how I made some mistakes and we are going to try 2 of the smaller shims on each side in order to get rid of any excessive sway. Since I was barely off with a small and large shim, I know two small shims will work without an issue. Also, she agreed with you that any sway left should be eliminated by the u-bolts. Thanks for your help and I will get back with you on an update once I get them in which will probably be next weekend or in two weekends from now.

Great informative video. Buying the Pat's system tomorrow and I believe I need the PTO extender and longer top link. Can you tell me where you got yours, especially the PTO extender. The one I found from TSC has slides on the male side of the tractor and has a hole in it and I'm not sure if I would use a split pin in it or a bolt? The one you showed in the video looks like it would slide on like an implement and lock onto the PTO. Is that the case? I couldn't find one like that. Thanks again for sharing the information.

Well done! I’ve had the Pat’s Quick Hitches for several years. Oddly, until your video I did not realize there was such a thing as a PTO extender. Just what I need! My implement has a long enough shaft, but trying to reach under the PTO cover with my arms fully extended while nearly laying on my side and holding my head in just the right way is a PIA and sours my mood. Also, both springs on my hitches broke in the past year. I just got replacement springs and have yet to install them. Does not appear easy to do this. Have you had to do that yet?
@DIYMyWay Жыл бұрын
Thanks, John! Yep, the PTO extender is a great help. No, the springs on my Pat’s are still working fine. I hope it won’t be too hard for you to replace yours.

I am still trying to decide if this is the way to go. Could you please tell me how thick the actual hook is? (the dimension from where the pin sits to the implement. I hope that makes sense.) The reason I ask is because on my carryall (which is NO WHERE as nice as yours) there isn't much space between the pin and the wood of the carryall. Thank you for your time.
@DIYMyWay4 жыл бұрын
I think it’s about 1” thick. If you have the County Line carryall frame, it’s a tight fit but it can work if you use half inch or more furring strips between the back boards and the frame uprights. Or you can carve out some of the wood of the board behind the pins, which is what I did. Thanks for watching!
@d.a.ballou97404 жыл бұрын
@@DIYMyWay Thank you for answering. I do have the County Line frame and I thought I might have to shave some wood for it to fit because the arms just fit now. Thanks again.

You said that the box blade doesn't require the lynch pin washers. Why not and what do they accomplish when they are needed?
@DIYMyWay8 ай бұрын
Go to 8:55 in the video and pay attention to the design of the brush hog pin design and you’ll understand why they aren’t needed in that case. They are needed for implements that have open ended pins and add extra protection from the Pat’s slipping off the end of the pins. Thanks for watching!

I just ordered a Cat. I Pat's Easy Change system for my Kubota L39014WD HST tractor. From your list above (you misspelled Owed in the "Equipment Owned" list), I see you also own a Kubota 3901 4WD HST tractor. However, I have a RCR1260 60" Rotary Cutter. Did you find that you required a PTO extender for the drive shaft to fit properly and make the drive shaft length the same as the original equipment without the Pat's Easy Change system? I know the original drive shaft has an overlap section to it but I don't really want to have to pull the shroud off to find out if this actually presents a problem. Thanks for your informative videos!

Hi Don! Thanks for catching the typo! I think you’ll love the Pat’s system. I don’t if I required a PTO extender or not. I just bought one so I wouldn’t have to worry about it and I never had a problem. Thanks for watching!

@@DIYMyWay So, do you use an extender or not? I am having a problem following your answer above. If you do use one, what do you find to be an acceptable extender? Thanks.

@@DIYMyWay What is the model number or effective length?
@DIYMyWay2 жыл бұрын
I don’t know the model number but it adds about 4” of extension to match the 4” a QH or Pat’s would add to the length.

Will it cause issues with telescopic link arms version? Since mine are extendable that is a bit of concern.
@DIYMyWay4 жыл бұрын
Hi Steve! The Pat's hook body measures 2.25" from the center of the pin hole to the edge of the body so if you have at least that much room between the center of your lift arm pin hole and the telescoping mechanism, you should be okay. Thanks for watching!

I have some equipment that is Cat. 1 and some that is Cat. 2. Is there any way to install one Pat's Easy Change Quick Hitch that will work on both Cat. 1 & Cat. 2 setups?
@DIYMyWay2 жыл бұрын
Hi JC! If you buy a Cat 2 Pat’s system, I can think of two options: (1) change the pins on your Cat 1 equipment to Cat 2 pins, or (2) put quick hitch bushings on your existing Cat 1 pins to make them Cat 2. Thanks for watching!

@@DIYMyWay Thank you I will let you know who it works. I have another question about the quick PTO attachment. I am correct in that you need an "end" for each implement that uses the PTO? SO glad I found your videos.

Not necessarily, although the makers of PTO quick connects are happy to sell you extra PTO shaft ends. I have found that it is pretty easy to put the one I have on either of the PTO shafts I have. If you find it difficult, then you can consider buying more of them. I’m very glad to know you find my videos helpful!
