Met Pat Sajak some years ago while in Los Angeles to see a Kings hockey game. They were playing the St Louis Blues. Gretzky was on the team then. I got up to go to the lobby, and he was standing in the exit way to get there. I spoke to him with the usual comments. I wish I could remember the year. Gretzky retired some 20 + years ago so it was quite a few years. My wife and I had travelled from Las Vegas to see Gretzy play that night. We are from Brantford Canada (Gretzky's home town) and I'll add our son played with him for a few young years of his career. School mates. It was a treat to meet Pat Sajak.

I missed a lot of early morning college classes because I couldn't turn off Jack Parr, the GREATEST talk show host/interviewer of all time!
@pannoni186 ай бұрын
It's interesting that Pat grew up with Jack Parr, as it was his Tonight show successor, Johnny Carson, who also had a well-publicized retirement after such a long run that defined a late night institution on NBC (and the first 7 1/2 years of Pat's tenure at Wheel were produced in the same building as The Tonight Show). Jay Leno was a decent replacement, but the later hosts just don't compare. Bob Barker's retirement is the only other big comparison to Sajak.

To continue to work as long as you can is a joy and be grateful to God to give you that opportunity. I am 88 years old now and enjoying health and happiness for which I am grateful to people who gave me this opportunity. Mr. Sajak worked hard and for long time for bringing us very unique entertainment where enjoyment and intelligence walk hand in hand. We must not forget Vanna White for her charm, million dollar smile and generosity to give away that big amount of money !!!!

Misleading title to video! It's a good video telling the sequence of events of Pat Sajak's life, but the title should therefore portray that. Instead it leads you to believe that there is some "sad" untold truth as to why Pat is retiring. And there's not. It's just the traditional reason... he's 77yo and ready, wanting to spend more time with his family. I hate when videos try to "trick" us into clicking! And PS) Get his name correct! He deserves that much!

I'm not too fond of these videos with computer-generated announcing with every name, including Pat Sajak being pronounced wrong. Also, the title says that Pat will reveal his sad reason for retiring which turns out to be that he wants to spend more time with his family. What is sad about that.

Thanks to Pat for his many years as host. I never missed an episode. Ryan will have to work much harder to come even close to becoming a great host like Pat.
