I love how this game is just the anti-David Cage game, while the "gameplay" itself is relatively simple, it still uses it to mess with you in a clever and novel way that never comes off as pretentious because of how willing it is to make fun of itself. What an absolute joy of a game

God, this game makes me nostalgic now... I remember the GMod version and even the 'special' version of the playable teaser they sent to the Game Grumps. I'm almost sad they switched out the Minecraft and Portal references, but the fact the change made Pat visibly spasm in shock more than makes up for it. Edit: lmao new content memory ending came for me with no hesitation

It's kind of funny that they changed the game so the references would be more contemporary (at least partially, or maybe because licensing costs) but Rocket League and Firewatch are both over 5 years old now. Still, it got me to play Firewatch (that and gamepass) so that's a win. Good game

There's some fun gags on the switch version: the painting of a gun to a panda's head has the hand holding the gun replaced with Mario's hand, and every mention of Steam is replaced by "Pressurized Gas", which i assume is also the case for the other console versions

In the case of Rocket League specifically, that ran into some issues because RL is made in Unreal while SP is in Unity, so Davey had to hire some who spent a few weeks converting the assets so that they would properly hook in Unity. Apparently Psyonix even gave Davey the data for the cars but that shit simply would not work outside of Unreal. Firewatch was easy by comparison, that game was made in Unity to begin with. If you want to know a lot of background stuff about the game, the streamer DougDoug did a stream of it with its creator and lead designer (and also his brother) Davey.
