People seem to be unaware, he didn't serve in two tours. He went twice and stayed in a bunker guarded by gurkers. He didn't even pass exams to gey unto Sandhurst, his actuary did. He left the army after failing his helicopter licence 3yes THREE TIMES and was unable to go any higher in rank. He, along with his brother and sister in law started invictus after watching warrior games. Harry did not cone up with the idea. Sir Keith Mills (London Olympics & Paralympics) led the coallition that founded Invictus. Along with Mills' team, there was a Palace team of Royal Foundation staff led by William and Catherine POW, and an MOD team. Harry's contribution was to tell Prince Philip about veterans wanting a UK version of US Wounded Warriors. After Invictus was founded, he was made patron.

This disgusts me, my 18 year son serve 2 1/2 tours in Iraq, NOT in the bunker by the way. Had his best friend and fellow soldier bleed out in his arms, has survivors guilt because at the age of 19 was made a first sergeant, so all the boys who died took a piece of him. He lost 30 % of his hearing, can't be on large crowds and still can't do fireworks. To whoever is in charge of awards to soldier's, please use your head and not your wallet when making decisions. I know more about what she wore than any of the competing athletes. As for his other qualifications - yes, he did 2 tours in Afghanistan, but was protected and pampered earning the nickname "Bunker Harry". I was medically evacuated from the Middle East, to an Army hospital in Landstuhl, Germany. To go from being with my unit 24/7 to all alone in a strange place really affected me psychologically. I found out that the facility had a USO lounge. There, they made me feel at home. It was a mostly-volunteer operation, yet the amount of love and passion they put in to giving comfort and assurance to our service members is palpable. I've forgotten their names, honestly I wasn't in the best mind state while I was there, but I will always remember their smiles. These are the types of people that will never get the recognition they deserve.
