Most music today with millions of dollars in equipment and team of people to mix and remaster can't duplicated what these guys are doing with equipment that would fit in a pickup truck.

@EverettBoard I skipped my senior prom in 80' to see the 'go for what you know/crash and burn' tour. The classic lineup from the live album. It took a week to get my jaw off the floor. That rhythym section was incredible. I think Aldridge went to Ozzy's camp soon after I saw him, and then went on to play with another legend, Randy Rhoads. Great times, will never forget it.

I had to pick up Pat at the airport in Gulfport, MS back in 2003 and drive him to his hotel, then to the gig, and back to the airport the next morning. We got to talk quite a bit. He's genuinely a nice guy. He talked a lot about his days in London after leaving Canada and was infatuated with the fact that I lived in Belgium and Germany for quite some time. We talked about various annual concerts in the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany. I've since moved back to Europe and my wife and I purchased a house in the Black Forest. Pat, if you're reading this I'd like to catch up with you if you come back this way.

I have listened to the studio version of this recently and... Sandy Genarro (here) is a superlative drummer (I don't know anything about the revolving cast of guitarists/bassists Pat has gone through in the past thirty years, including these two), but Mars Cowling, Pat Thrall and Tommy Aldridge on the original version of this ..... it is so groovy, thick, greasy, ass kicking, and ferocious, the studio version is just so fucking sassy... give it a listen right now; it'll be worth the time and effort.

This version of the PTB kicks ass, I think the audience may have been under instruction of the fire marshall not to make any sudden moves, lest the the venue might burst into flames. This band is awesome, if there anywhere near you go see them, you will not be disappointed.

The 2nd rock concert ever I went to I was in 7th grade and it was BOC, UFO, Cheap Trick (hey it was their Live at Budokan Tour) and Pat Travers with the ultimate line up-Cowling, Thrall, Aldridge at San Diego Stadium. UFO with Schenker. And BOC was the dope. I paid $14 for the ticket, which I thought was expensive because I'd just seen AC/DC (my 1st concert ever) and paid $7.

He is one of mine as well. What I like most about him is that he takes the step further and goes to that heavier place where blues-rock guitarists like Jeff Beck, Dave Hlubek, Stevie Ray Vaughn were heading for but stopped short of just as they were about getting there. To me every classic Travers plays is the way it should have been done in the first place. I always thought if Eddy Van Halen had plugged his guitar in both channels, he may have made it "there" as well.

My buddy's band opened, for Pat, at the Masquerade ATL, GA, quite a few years ago. I talked to Pat, told him of his guitar god status with me. As he was leaving his dressing room, I saw him break the seal on a fresh bottle of Jack, and take a shot. He walked onstage, and I grabbed the bottle out of his dressing room. My buddy said, Put that bottle back! It was kinda nostalgic, especially with this song.

Because BTO's sound had a broader mass appeal here in the US, in the early 70's they were one of the very few "hard" bands that pop stations would readily play. Rock fans liked them, country fans liked them, pop fans liked them. They had the sound that bands like Mountain were seeking but could never nail.
