thank you so much for the introduction on consumerism, very appreciated here on KZbin which is becoming basically a compulsive buying trigger.

Considering the DAS or DAS light. How do they compare? I’m a mostly 3 season hiker/camper.

Das is significantly warmer version. If you are looking for a synthetic fill parka with lots of warmth for those cold nights, the das parka is for you. If you want a smaller piffy synthetic jacket, go for the das light.😊

I agree with the comment below. If you are only a 3 season hiker I think the Das Light would be the way to go. Unless you find yourself in conditions in the single digits & teens often, then the Park version would be better. The Das light is on sale right now on Patagonias website! Cheers

Great video man! Do you think the DAS or Fitz Roy is warmer? Also I loved to see this color way on another person besides the patagonia website bro, looks like a nice blue, does it look even better in person?

Das or Fitz for warmth... That's really tough because my Fitz is on the third winter now and the down if not as lofty. But if I had to say I think very similar. I did notice with the Das when wearing it in conjunction with your sleep bag (for added warmth on frigid nights) it's def warmer bc it doesn't compress like down. The crushed it on the color! Thanks for checking out the video.

Off note, which jacket would you take on a through hike of the PCT? Patagonia Das Parka or Mountain Hardwear Ghost Whisper UL? Thanks in advance for your time 🤙🏽

Great question, if you’re talking about the Das (parka) and not the Das (Light) I would definitely 100% suggest the MH Ghost Whisper. The Parka is way too bulky and warm. But if you are talking about the Das Light vs MH Ghost Whisper… I would say they are both phenomenal and whichever one you can find cheaper would be my pick. I hope this helps.

@@AndyOnTheMountain Thanks for the response, found the Ghost Whisper UL on sale and picked it up, and a Senchi 90 wt for layering options. Putting together my packing list and finalizing items as much as possible for 2025 PCT.

@@expatadventureturkey9324 That’s going to be a great layering/ warm system. When I hiked the PCT I used a Patagonia Nano air synthetic but that’s only because I didn’t want to buy another jacket. It took up a lot of space but I was happy with it. The MH Ghost Whisper is the way to go. I’ve been using mine for about 2 years now. It’s fragile but going strong! 💪🏽

It's a great jacket and I love everything about it, but I really really hate the hand warmer pockets. Where I'm at up here in AK I use it for 40 to -15, and as a photographer doing my thang in the cold I NEED hand warmer pockets that fit a mans hands not a toddlers hands. Hand warmer pockets are `not big enough, and this thing is supposed to be a belay jacket...? I'm really bummed because again I really do love the jacket but my hands barely fit in the bottom hand warmer pockets, not to mentioned they're not lined at all, so with my landscape/seascape photography it creates a major problem, and forces me to wear thin gloves when I shouldn't have to. So bottom line one of thee greatest jackets ever made but the hand warmer pockets are a joke and are too small. Peace

I completely agree with you on the toddler sized hand pockets, they are annoying. I'm not sure why Patagonia did this. I also very much dislike the synch cord for the waist in the hand pockets.. One thing I like about the Fitz Roy down jacket is the huge hand pockets but also the chest and internal pockets. Maybe they will upgrade the Das Parka in the future. Cheers
