Love mine, mainly use it as a emergency piece as it's so light

Much better tecnical down jackets from other companies. Patagonia seems to be becoming a fashion company for the majority of its gear.

At the time this jacket came out over a decade ago it was fairly cutting edge. It’s weight (9.6 ounces in Medium) was only bested in its class by the Mountain Hardwear Hooded Ghost Whisperer (7.5 ounces in size Medium). It is not a perfect comparison because the Ghost Whisperer doesn't have a cinch on the hood or a chest pocket like this one does. Side by side with something like the Rab Xenon from that era and the Ultralight Down Patagonia does keep you warmer. That said these days I do agree. They’ve seemed to have paired back on the technical gear and have gone fashion forward. I think Patagonia’s sweet spot era-wise was the mid 2000s to mid 2010s. The Encapsil parka, the Knifeblade fabrics, the R1 of that era, they’re all really awesome gear. The alpine kit from that era is really awesome too.
