I like how they improved this scene in later patches. But the thing I like about this version is the fact he looks so soft and vulnerable. So cute.

The only thing I don't like about this scene is that there's no middle ground between letting him bite you and making him fend for himself. I want to help him catch something to eat, dammit.

I don't think the current version has the blood trickle, it makes me miss this version of the scene. I do like that we can see him coming to bite you now from the other side of your person, but we lost the placement of Astarion with the firelight at his back, it made him look more sinister and scary as a monster. Also happy the slurp sound is gone now, it was immersion breaking. 😆💕

I wish the devil hadn’t shown up to mess this scene up for me. Immediately after he showed up, All of a sudden, Astarion is like “oh yeah, my old VAMPIRE master Cazador is just like him! Oh, you wanna know about my MASTER?? (Wah I don’t wanna tell you but I am anyways) WELL I’M HIS SPAWN!!” Then later in adventuring he’s like “What? Vampire? Who? Me? Nahh” To be clear, he never screamed he specifically was a Vampire Spawn, so I guess he was expecting me to think of him as Cazador’s bastard?? Lol?? But still. *Vampire Lord* to *I’m His Spawn who was forced to do terrible things to myself at his whim* What the f*ck was I supposed to take from that?

I think it's an amazing choice, really. It just shows, even through game mechanics, how 'enticing' or rather tempting it is to use the tadpole and its powers! :D Because you know that you'll have it easy with that power. You know that you'll succeed and dont even have to worry about your stats. but at what cost?

it's half the animation but a lot of the awkwardness can be fixed by just removing the massive gaps of not saying anything, like if they cut that down not even smoothed the animation out just removed those pieces it would look way better.

Idk not really...He doesn't sparkle in sunlight, he gets burned by running water. Before the tadpole he couldn't enter homes uninvited and couldn't be in sunlight. He isn't super fast and strong like the twilight vampires, nor does he have amber eyes when he only eats animals or whatever they did. The only thing in common is that he's a handsome man who's a vampire (spawn)? Sure, he's not got the actual stats of a vampire spawn in D&D like resistance to non-magical damage or healing every turn but he'd be a ridiculously powerful companion if so. It's already been established that things aren't the same with the entire illithid tadpole not turning everyone into mindflayers in a few days thing. At the end of the day it's fantasy and Larian is the DM - they'll tweak what they need to make it work for a video game. Hope this helps.
