How do I love this video? Let me count the ways. (1) clear images and close-ups (2) articulate spoken word AND helpful written explanations accompanying the narration (3) no heavy-metal or aggressive driving bass music -- in fact, really nice music to tide over the extended periods of performing tasks While this may be helpful for DIYers, for me the value lies in knowing what the process is so I can have more informed conversations while selecting a stucco contractor to perform the work. The first time I heard a contractor refer to a screed, I laughed. (He didn't understand why. Maybe he's never been exposed to the Comments section on KZbin.) I subscribed!

Wow! that you so much for taking the time to write this encouraging comment. Check out my latest fireplace stucco video for more insight on stucco. I have definitely learned how not to do stucco! LOL

Good video, I have a 17 foot section on a second story balcony that all the weep screed is rotted out, stucco is fine. The balcony was installed like a shower pan, with liner and about two inches of thinset tight to the screed, horrible design. Replacing balcony now and was trying to figure out if I should break out the stucco and replace the screed or just cut the screed flashing even with the bottom of the stucco then slide a drip edge behind the screed.

Thanks for the comment. I think as long as moisture can escape out from the bottom of the stucco you should be ok. Also depending on how things are put together it might be challenging to get a drip edge up under and attached behind the old drip screed. Kirk Giordano Plastering Inc. has great stucco videos on KZbin, he might have a better answer.

Are you saying I should have used it on the old stucco because of the paint? I've patched the stucco on 6 replacement windows this way and no issues after 5 years.

Seriously? Chicken wire vs galvinized diamond lathe? Cmon….

It's actually stucco netting that was used when the house was built. I just installed a new drip screed.
