Did you do that on EIFS synthetic stucco?
@deankay44345 ай бұрын
That is woodpecker damage. If spray foam, sand down 1/4” lower than finish. Apply a bonding liquid to patch before stucco. The finish is swirl or rilling. EIFS contains marble dust of screened sizes then mix with exterior acrylic paint resins and colorant. This type of finish is larger aggregate. As far as matching it with paint, Menards, Lowe’s, Home Depot can’t use rough textured samples to match color. Hard to match but paintable. Try a darker gray but hold the can back double the distance to blend a color match. If you’ve seen paint mixed, it is 5-8 colors of different amounts. You may end up with 4 used cans of spray paint on the shelf. Clean the nozzle and use masking tape to keep them together and perhaps write the formula that works down on the masking tape. Best of luck as woodpeckers are not looking for bugs or worms, just a home!

Great job! I will try your approach. As for the color, eventually you will need to paint the house and that will become a non-problem. You may also want to take a chip with the existing color from the same part you are patching and have Home Depot match it as close as possible.

Hi instead of searching for a paint color that matches, you can buy a couple different cans and then spray into a little cup. Spray the gray that's too light, then add a little spray of black to darken it up. Take a little brush and paint a piece of metal with it. Can use a blow dryer to hasten drying. A few experiments and you'll have a very close match.

You can take a small sample of the drywall to Home Depot. They scan it under a machine and they will offer you the closet option according to the scan. Paint department.

@@abulayla1212 I show all of the holes before I fill them. If you have a hole that is 12x12, you will need to use some large gap insulation spray foam to create a foundation so you can use this stucco patch.

If you go in the hardware store, you see all the construction folks getting the 25lb bag of stucco patch that requires you to mix with water. I thought to myself they're buying it because it lasts longer or is considered more professional. The reviews for this Sika Ready Mix are very good though. Great option for DIY folks.

I believe that finish is called a worm Finish. you can match it pretty close by putting some really course sand in the mix and using a rubber or plastic float in circle motions. Also If that is a maintenance free stucco, try and use a cementious color coat over tha patches. so you do not have to keep painting it.

Will the stucco mix adhere to the yellow foam? Do I need some stucco netting underneath for it to stick to?

Unfortunately you have a complex stucco pattern that looks nice and fancy, but would be challenging even for a stucco company to match. Luckily the bottom half has a more straight forward pattern that's easier to match with a wet float.

when i got paint from ppg the paint was a lot better than the stuff at lowes and way cheaper too. as for matching ya i am pretty horrible at doing that. those color cards are totally not helpful for me. ive even had real good painters and i think even they struggle with it.
@stupidassol Жыл бұрын
If this is in an HOA, they might have the color in file. As far as matching the paint, just paint the wall, corner to corner. That way you don't have to match the weathered paint or the patchwork areas. You'll NEVER get paint to match without it being noticeable. Just bite the bullet and spend $150 and repaint the entire wall. Cost of ownership, buddy.
