Where would you recommend a person to go for treatment.

Hey Cristo, I’d recommend a Gonstead trained or Certified chiropractic extremity practitioner. You can find someone in your area by searching www.gonstead.com or www.councilonextremityadjusting.com

I have Patella Alta, tried physical therapy for a few months but it doesn't seem to shift the knee from its place and I keep feeling pain every now and then when I walk, squad, lunge etc. I found a Gonstead doctor in London but I live in Romania so I have to travel there How many sessions would take for the condition to improve?

Hi Virsidus, the number of sessions for any patient always varies. However, I've seen improvement in as little as one visit. Recurrence does happen with repetitive activities like life, work and sport. If your Gonstead provider can find the source and correct that you'll be in good shape. FWIW I often find a subluxated pelvis/si joint which pulls on the vastus lateralis and creates/contributes to the patella alta and excessive lateral tracking. Your doctor will also want to look at the foot to determine any contribution to the knee problem. Once you're examined and the root cause joint dysfunction is corrected you'll have better luck self-caring for the muscle tissue through various forms of pin/stretching. I hope that helps.

@@ChiropractorEdmond yes sir, loud and clear. I am familiar with tissue work, massage with hard rollers or lacrosse balls barbells. etc I have been training for 8 years and never had knee problems til one time when I changed my squat technique with something that involves screwing the feet into the ground, then for some reason I kept injuring my left knee, then had the xray and my patella appeared higher. I'll do my best to make it to London and see what the Doctor from there will have to say. Thank you!

I heard a pop in my knee when i stroke a football in the net. There wasnt any pain but the sound was loud. Then when i came back home, i saw that my patella has loosened and it now moves a bit freely in all directions. Again with 0 pain. I also had patellar tendonitis so i need to ensure that everything is right. What is your take on this?😊

Hi, I’m a chiropractic student. What I believe to happen is that the “pop” sound could be a possible tear of ACL/PCL/MCL/LCL which are ligaments of the knee or it could be the meniscus of knee joint that is torn. By performing orthopaedic test on the knee joint, we can find out what is causing the problem. U can search on the test that is specific to the structure that is causing it. For example, ACL you can perform anterior drawer test, lachman test, pivot shift test. For MCL, valgus stress test. Also, get an imaging evaluation like x-ray (bones alignment), ultrasound (ligaments, meniscus, cartilage, muscles) or MRI done to visualise your problem. Seek help from a professional physiotherapist, chiropractor or orthopaedic surgeon to determine whether a surgery is required or not depending on your severity. Hopefully you find my advice useful :)

What exactly do you achieve with that last thrust? Thanks
@ChiropractorEdmond

This patient had "patella alta" and we were able to extend his career by managing his condition in this way. The thrust when delivered by a licensed and physician achieves better alignment of the patella over the joint line. His team physician asked me what we did to help him so I shot this video. I'm sorry for the delayed response.

I have the same problem. Chondromalacia Patella/PFS. It hurts a lot when I go up and down the stairs or push off the legs. can I do this on myself? What other therapies would you recommend? My Quads are super tight and I am working on stretching them.

Unfortunately, I don't think you can do this on yourself effectively. You want to be careful as this could further irritate your condition. This video was created on the request of a sports physician in major league baseball because he wanted to know how we helped a particular athlete. We extended his career by the way. Results may vary. Most of the tracking and patella issues are d/t foot pronation in my experience. If you control/correct your feet and/or low back your knee issues should improve. I'd recommend finding a good sports chiro or physio. some referral resources to look up gonstead.com/find-a-gonstead-doctor/ and www.councilonextremityadjusting.com/ccep-locator/ I hope that helps.

You're welcome! sorry for the delay. You can try McConnell's taping procedure and pin and stretch the quads too.

THIS IS SO BAD FOR YOUR KNEES DONT DO IT IT CREATES HYPEREXTENSION
@ChiropractorEdmond
@ChiropractorEdmond 5 жыл бұрын
Jilly James thanks for your reply. I agree that if this is performed by the unlicensed, untrained and uninitiated it could do as you described. However, I prevent this by way of a fist behind the knee to prevent hyperextension. PLEASE NOTE: this is not a self help video. It was shot at the request of an MD who wanted to know how I was able to extend the career of a professional baseball player. Disclaimer: Results may vary. Not everyone who has this treatment will find relief or play in the MLB. This doesn’t constitute medical advice and you should talk to a doctor about your heath concerns.
