Stunning aerial views! Paternoster is a beautiful and unique place on the West Coast, slowly becoming commercialised with all the guest houses that draw tourists to enjoy the rare beauty of this small little hamlet! Thank you for another wonderful vlog.

Indeed, Paternoster has a lot of charm, but we've found the beauty and calm atmosphere very authentic. We loved it! Cape Columbine was spectacular, we were lucky to explore this on a rare windless day... Thanks for the compliment on the aerial footage 🙏❤ Wishing you a wonderful Sunday evening, Werner

When we lived in the Cape, Tietiesbaai was one of our favourite places to camp - we have many wonderful memories of our time there. We also stayed at the Sea Shack in 2019 - what an absolutely lovely week that was! In December my brother and his family from the UK came to visit us and our first excursion was to Paternoster and they loved it. Paternoster is truly a gem on the West Coast. Thank you for showing it so beautifully!

Thanks so much, Corna, for your lovely comments and sharing your experiences of Tietiesbaai and the Sea Shack. Cape Columbine is very special and we were fortunate to experience this on a windless day! Camping at Tietiesbaai must be very special, but the Sea Shack looks like the place to go! Wow, staying at the Sea Shack for a week must have been great! 😀 We are very glad that you liked our video, next Sunday we show the remainder of the trip 😉 Wishing you a lovely Sunday evening, Werner

@@backroadchronicles Thank you for always replying 😊 Indeed my mom and I were happy when we saw that the ocean would be involved 😁 It's sort of become a little tradition to sit on the edge of her bed and watch it together 😊 So thank you for being a part of our Sunday wind down 😀 Credit where credit is due Annelie 😉 Your work is something to be proud of. No doubt tourists must take great interest in acquiring some pieces, and lucky Cape locals 😊 Hope you and Werner also have a super week ❤️

Hi Kate! Apologies for only responding now to your comment. Thanks so much for your positive comments! 😀 You know, Annelie and myself were telling each other before this trip to Paternoster that it will particularly be appreciated by Kate, and we were of course right! 🤣 We know you like the sea trips and we will always have these in the mix, there will also be some of this in the very next trip we are busy planning now... 😉 I hope you will have a great week! All the best, Werner

Unfortunately, I do not have an Instagram account, so I am unable to leave a comment on your page, Annelie. I may ask my daughter to set me up with one 😊 Your ceramics are absolutely gorgeous, Annelie - I am spellbound by your exquisite creativity. You are so very talented and I love the earthiness of your designs. I am a bird and plant lover, and am in awe of your beautiful artwork capturing both 🫶🏻 What a feast for my eyes! Thank you, Werner, for sharing the link. You must be enormously proud of Annelie 🫶🏻

Annelie, I have the same reaction when driving next to trucks - so thank you for indirectly reassuring me that I’m not the only one who encounters this irrepressible feeling. Liewe klein Frikkie would have loved exploring ‘klein gelukkie’! What a charming AirBnB (?). Hopefully, your next adventure will allow him to join you! I have missed him 😉🫶🏻 I burst out laughing when you mentioned “the list” 😂 and felt even more included than I always feel 🫶🏻 Loved that you captured Annelie’s reaction to the “icy” Atlantic ocean, Werner. I follow two Swedish KZbinrs who live in the far north and am always amazed at their tolerance of really icy conditions - especially when they willingly spend ages in temperatures that are incomprehensible to me, laboriously sawing through the thick ice, covering lakes, to make an ice-hole in which to submerge themselves 🥶 I can’t even brave a cold shower 😄 This truly was a most thrilling episode - so much beauty to soak up - the history you shared, the surprise encounters (eg the little Steenbokkie), the marvellous drone footage - all held my attention and touched my heart. Seeing you gingerly stepping upon those sharp, crushed shells (eina! EINA!) reminded me of my childhood experience of having done likewise. I’d forgotten all about that. Paternoster (love both possible name origins) is clearly another delightfully quirky, arty village to add to ones bucket list. And I’m so excited to continue this exploration with you, next week! Right now, I’m going to explore your Instagram page, Annelie to view your ceramic creations 😉🙏🏻💗

Hi, Des, so good chatting to you again! 😀 Thanks, as always, for your special comments. We surely missed Frikkie on the trip, it is só unfortunate that if there is only just one activity where he can not join us, it makes it basically impossible to take him with. He is used to always have people or at least other dogs with him, so leaving him alone in a place unfamiliar to him will cause him a lot of stress... 😐 BUT we will take him with on trips whenever we can... We indeed found Klein Gelukkie on Airbnb, it is actually one of three units, with the other two called Gelukkie and Nog 'n Gelukkie 😀 The List, the List, when will we learn! 🤣 I'm so pleased you found Annelie's ceramics Instagram page, I'm very proud of her and of course adore her work myself. The deep joy she gets from beautiful plants (especially fynbos) and birds is, in my opinion, perfectly captured in her vases and plates... and rubs off on all around her ❤ We knew we would enjoy our trip to Paternoster, but everything (including the weather) just came together to make it a near perfect getaway. Next week continue in Episode 2 (there was an incident with the horse riding, but nothing serious, will tell all in the video next Sunday... 😉). Wishing you a lovely Sunday evening, Werner 😀
