BTW ... I have been half working on a TTRPG game in the background and have done 56 different class designs and 300+ abilities (needs a LOT of simplification/iteration). But your class designs, especially using the PoE mini tree style has got me thinking how cool it would be to have a playable PoE-adjacent TTRPG for downtime between leagues. I wonder if anyone has done that (aside from the card game version at exilecon). It would be super fun.

Yes! As a D&D fan I have been thinking for a while how great it would be to have a PoE TTRPG. Would be a tonne of work but wonder if some of your work might be transferred!? Glad you enjoyed the design mate, thanks for commenting

Haha appreciate you mate! fun is the goal definitely though I do try and make them feel semi plausible. I try imagine it like this is v1 of a probably 3 version design process, and then balancing and testing to refine all the kinks out between.

I also love that you are integrating a lot of the in game lore as concepts for these ascendancies. (Warlock and chieftain so far). Talkativetri also did something like that vaal based monk on the ascendancy battle round 1 Some ideas that you might consider: Warrior or Templar may get something like a "Runeknight" someone who studied kalguuran art and wields its magic to empower their attacks and utelize ward. Abyss could be tied directly to necro A mercenary/shadow ascendancy that previously worked with the immortal syndicate. Huntress ascendancy that trained under the azmeri tribes being able to alternate vivid, primal and wild. Ranger ascendancy based on controlling blighted root, spores and minions, to spread poison and decay. Shadow ascendancy that worships Tangmazu (delirium entity) and uses delirium/insanity/madness themed buffs and abilities to move around and assassinate foes

Awesome, glad you felt there was enough there to make the minion playstyle attractive for the ascendancy idea. Never want to make an ascendancy feel like you have to use a a very specific build with it. That affliction node I feel like brings so much to the class and keeps the character of those curses that I loved. Definitely one of my favourites in this one too.

I’m no expert though do you mean from a game design or Lore perspective? In regards to the gameplay I imagine most PoE systems to be fairly delicate as they rely on and effect many other systems within the game. Like monster density, monster rarity, unique items, soul gain prevention etc. From the Lore I mean geez just look what happened to the Vaal lol

suggestion for the 3rd witch: Witch in the forest, but not the common fairytale witch trope. Rather a witch that uses plants and animals, communes with nature, like a proper Terry Pratchett Witch.

That last Witch spot feels precious now! there's so many roots to go with it. I know a few mechanics I feel it needs to fill but the theme is up in the air rn :) Will add this to the list!

Very creative, only nitpick would be that all Witch ascendancies sofar are too heavy on the minion-side.

Hmmm I will bare that in mind though it has been deliberate to a degree. I have tried to offer quite a few of the classes a minion option or two and perhaps even a little more especially for the Witch. My thinking is to both increase the minion options available across the board but also try stop there being just 1 or 2 go to minion ascendancies. I tried to mitigate leaning to heavily on minions by making many of the nodes work for minions or if you just are playing solo. For the Warlock for example there are only 2 nodes for minions. The rest work without though may also include minion / ally effects incase. So I tried to make it work for either. The same for Defiler with the Ill Presence top node for example. It could look like a minion node though in fact it works just as well if you were just scaling your own damage without any minions. That's my thinking at least. Hope that might address the concern

@@sylverxyz Not a concern, just a preference of mine :) One aspect of a "witch" fantasy (besides minions, debuffs, etc) I would like to see covered is Alchemy. I always thought concoctions that interact with curses and/or debuffs would fit a Witch pretty well.

40% curse effect would break POE2. They had to nerf curse effect to 5% in POE1 because tempchains+enfeeble is so crippling to bosses

Hmm feels like there needs to be some feeling there that it is somehow tied to demonic summoning, or bloodmagic, you know like name that invokes dark making usage! Battlemage is a cool archetype though I feel that it doesn't neccesarily represent the kit offered in this one
