I'd want to try playing a life recoop Cwdt set up (I know this is a poe 1 build and might not exist in poe 2). I would use: Realm grasp with a focus to fix mana issues Spirit call to give me insane amounts of less damage taken when my skelly boys die around me in my cwdt set up Strong spirit to help with gearing and giving me a large spirit, and life pool and the fourth node would either be Tribal Etchings for tattoos (though this seems a bit counter to taking Strong spirit) or maybe Aberrance for spell rage Cool ascendancy!

The description of "deflect chance", visible at 3:07, is symmetric with the description of suppression. The introduction of a parallel mechanic is, in my view, a strong reason to believe that suppression will make it to live, alongside its new twin.

Gotta say this one seems like a lot of fun to play with. Just imagining the physical impact on the battlefield affecting groups of monsters , displacing them, pulling them in. Thats pure power fantasy! Nice one!

Yeah so we’re not yet sure if this is an old build that has since changed or perhaps suppression now does something like AOR or DoT Def maybe!

I hear you, I appreciate that they really wanted to focus on creating a specific ‘person’ as a character though now we have many more voice lines in the campaign. I wonder if down the line they decide to do something like this as an MTX

with the new rigs they said they can add new models way more easily and iirc they talked about having alternative character models (in like 2019 or something, so subject to change). personally I don't think gender lock is that big of an issue since it's not customizable characters, and you will probably be able to play most skills on at least 2 ascendancies it's not like it's an R18 game, your gender is killing monsters and in your pants is doom.

I've already been playing sort of medium core whenever possible, mainly because I hate dying, and I'll never fully trust an online connection to be completely reliable (that and I hate logout macros, and the balancing nightmare they've introduced). That PoE2 focuses on making defense a more active part of your gameplay is already something I look forward to, didn't even need any other incentive.

I don't think you can just "patch out" loading screens, and it's a bit worrying to see people potentially raising hopes that you can. Sorry for a bit of a rant, but this kinda bothers me in a "how hard can (incredibly hard thing) be?" way. First, D2 was designed to not need them, which means it has to do things like preload all assets that *might* be needed before they show up. Monsters, decorations, tiles, sounds, etc. PoE does this too, but only one area at a time. Changing this would inevitably raise memory requirements, as well as the load times for these "joined" areas when you enter them. You can argue that modern SSDs allow you to be more aggressive with loading things, but not everyone has a big enough SSD to run PoE from, and changing how the engine loads assets is *also* likely a massive overhaul. But that's relatively simple compared to a bigger problem: area size. Not a lot of people realise this, but computers have limits on numerical precision (at least when you want to be fast). As you get further from the centre, you have less precision. This is why almost every single engine has a limit for how big a map can be before the precision drops too low and it starts to affect visuals, gameplay, and physics. I don't know how far out PoE's maps can be, but if they started joining areas together, you're far more likely to start having precision issues you wouldn't see on the size of maps the engine was designed for. Diablo 2 was almost certainly designed specifically to support this, likely using a moving world origin system of some kind. Again, that's not something you can just easily patch into an existing engine. Another thing that would make this not worth doing: it's rarely needed. Endgame maps don't benefit from it. At least 2 of the new acts don't benefit from it (you travel to completely visually different, distant areas via caravan or boat). It would be a tremendous amount of difficult technical work and debugging so that a few campaign areas flow better. Don't get me wrong, I'd love to see seamless areas. I just don't think it's even remotely likely until at least PoE 3. Even then, I'd rather they spend that time and money on, you know, actual content.

Thanks for taking the time to give such a well thought out response. If it came across as this would be easy, then to be clear I would never assume something like this or honestly anything to do with making a game would be easy. I live with a game dev and daily I hear about all of the technical challenges he has to try deal with. I appreciate the in depth explanation of why this specifically could be a challenge but also importantly you raise a good point about the usefulness of something like this in the first place, especially in the largest part of the game, endgame. tbf floating point precision isn't really an issue, you can use a ladder or such as a transition point and just effectively teleport the player. I think they could make the loading screens faster by aggressively preloading and keeping in memory (i.e. when the character is near an entrance it will start loading the area, or the areas next to the current ones are always loaded, which yes does increase ram and vram usage.) imo the main thing that would help would be if they can get rid of the EU loading time issues. though the elephant in the room is that zones aren't fixed, which may or may not be an issue, but you'd need transitions between every zone, which add a lot of tiles. I would love if they added a ram usage slider so stuff gets kept in ram more aggressively if you want, I have 32 gigs of ram and would be fine with poe taking 24 and having almost all of the game in ram at all times. it could be a hard technical challenge or a 1 afternoon thing from a technical standpoint, changing diablo from turn based to real time was expected to take 6 months at least, but it took an afternoon and it was basically just making the turns take a fraction of a second. also seamless loading has a benefit that's hard to quantify, but it's like interactibles, it's part of a nebulous "this game feels good." alongside a bunch of other tweaks. and something I hope they do, making a mapping system that works like the mappers in the current league, you queue like 10 maps and you can move from one to the other, maybe for poe 3 or poe 2 2.0/3.0, but that could work with seamless transitions and justify it also something I think I'd like would be to make an endgame T16/17 version of the campaign, which could happen since they have the tech to randomize it. imo the main frustration with the campaign isn't the campaign itself it's that it's between the player and getting good loot.

Hey, so i don't think you should be worried. I said in my video that it isn't necessary. Recently I played tears of the kingdom (switch) and ff7 rebirth (ps5) and both are massive open world games with no loading screens on totally different hardware. Im not saying this translates to how PoE2 is built, but the level of polish and quality is enhanced in a game that hides its loading in my opinion. It's not a deal breaker for PoE2. I wont be demanding they make this happen. It would just be a nice touch for the player experience. If i had to be very critical on the other hand id say the loading screens break the epic feel of the game and make it feel like an arcade for a moment. Once again not a deal breaker. Just honest feedback. PoE2 is still my most anticipated game of the last decade.

Execution-again, impeccible. The lore angle 👌. Tribal Etchings would be really cool if acendency exclusive tatoos were enabled for this node, maybe you're thinking that this ascendency will have a monopoly on all tatoo's regardless? Tatoo's are gonna seem way more OP considering that they're leaning away from attribute requirements and mass replacing small nodes will be way less damaging. Maybe there would need to be a soft cap. If there were really interesting unique tatoo's I'd go with that node as my favorite.

Damage Taken is likely a list of damage taken modifiers, fe. fortify less damage taken from hits, while Damage Redirection is likely another more understandable terminology for damage taken as, fe. phys taken as lightning. Damage Redirection could also be stats which make other resources take damage before life, fe. totems take 5% of damage before you

While the seamless zone transitions is cool, I wonder how one would implement this while keeping the idea of creating new instances of a particular zone to either farm, reset a boss, etc.

I was thinking you could perhaps have a checkpoint flame there like we see at different PoI’s but these zone ones you could click to reset the instances. There’s a great comment from Noteasy pointing out some other difficulties with doing something like this too.

Was listening to the three way ascendancy battle the other day and had a cool idea. For the Gladiator ascendancy, maybe the defining part of that ascendancy in POE1 is the bleed explosions. Also, you know the way that boneshatter is shown to work in POE2 where the enemies get an indicator when they can be stunned with boneshatter. Imagine if on the new gladiator, one of the nodes gave you a skill "glory kill: bleeding enemies on low hp are marked, striking a marked enemy causes them to explode, killing them, dealing damage, and triggering explosions on other marked enemies" Could be implemented as its only skill or like a meta support gem for whatever other strike skill

I like this thinking a lot. Would be way more telegraphed and satisfying when visually marking packs while clearing. The time to kill in POE2 (at least in campaign) looks to be way longer so idk if one shooting pack explosions is going to be a thing until way later.

This is a great way of doing this I reckon, like you say it would be really satisfying but also fit in with the design ideas we have seen from the footage so far! Also it kind of skirts around the issues they are trying to avoid a little potentially with tonnes of builds feeling they need to go explode on kill. It’s a solid idea mate I will definitely look at adding this or certainly something like it to the Gladiator tree I’ve been working on!

I know Project 36 has been busy, but I remember there also having been a video about Delve in PoE2 in the works. I assume that has been benched for the time being?

It is so close to being ready but yes 36 is draining my Phylactery of Souls pretty hard right now. As soon as there’s a moment where I reach full soul power again I will be diving right into the mines and bringing it to you. I will do it in parts to try get it out sooner perhaps!

I'm currently playing in a private league and it's my first experience playing in a non-trade setting...I think I'm moving towards enjoying that limitation. Still not good enough at playing to go hardcore, but it's definitely a step towards a more mid-core gameplay experience of sorts.

I am curious exactly how strong Peace and Aegis of Faith will be together or if Aegis would tend to make Peace unnecessary. That said, I would love to try out all of the nodes on that one in one way or another with the least priority being Divine Vigor. Out of curiosity, is the thought on Peace that you would need to stop attacking for 4 seconds as well or is that part more immediate as long as you haven't used a skill with certain tags for a few moments?

I think could work together though there are considerations for sure. The idea for Peace is that you you decide to stop attacking an enemy because you are retreating. Then you can guarantee a recharge that recovers atleast you total ES pools worth of ES. Thanks for taking the time to comment mate

really love the Magus Praelia because it reminds me one build I made a "duelist necromancer" and my way to so was by taking points near the templar giving the increased and decreased attack damage and attack speed of the minions to affect me and I used summon skeleton with infernal legion and the notable Minion Instability and it was incredibly fun
