Not to mention they want to do the same model as the base game for the expansions, a $50 basic edition that gives you only the DLC, and a $100 edition that supposedly gives you early acess, extra stash, pet to colect loot, and even legendary item early acess, they are trying everything with this one, and there's people that actually defend this shit. When the devs asked managment "how are we going to monetize the game?", they just said "yes", only missing lootboxes now, maybe they will add it on season 5 or 10 lol.

When Asmon was talking about Blizzard spending hours at Blizzcon talking about how they researched and agnoized over the authenticity of the culture of this one character and shit, the first thing that came to mind was; GGG is a New Zealand company, and like half of their entire fucking game is lifted directly from Maori culture and uses the art, language conventions, and inspiration from that culture. And you know what? They never once got up on stage and said "Hey look we put this weird old non-white culture in our games, aren't we so cool and progressive and deserving of praise?" They just fucking did it, because it's part of the life that the people in New Zealand grew up with, and they slotted it into the world they designed. They didn't do it for good-boy points or praise from Twitter Woke people, they didn't do it to hold over people as a virtue signal. It's just there.

I would say Legion they peaked again, they just didnt follow it up with anything. Legion had SO much content, and all of it really good. You WANTED to play the game and see everything, it was the closest they've come to the game feeling new again since vanilla/tbc/wrath. The only bad things were the drops for legendaries and the endless grind for AP. Then BFA just had the same stuff recycled in a worse version with a horrible story plotline and the jebait that was "Island expeditions". Shadowlands then followed up that trash pile with a steaming dumpster fire, and the absolute worst writing Blizzard has ever done, destroying every previous plotline all for a who cares filler expansion with an awful villain lmao. Dragonflight at least they've redesigned flying, that's nice. Solo shuffle is nice. So it's not like they're not implementing new things, it's just very slow even though content is supposedly dropping faster than ever. Sadly I can't tell you what the plot is about other than dragons, because after Shadowlands I just don't care anymore. I log on to pvp, if the game had no plot anymore I wouldn't notice.

@@diego090bwall you've posted is baseless opinion, which I respect. I disagree with your statement about open world areas having bad music in ffxiv. The level of depth and central themes playing part in each expansion's areas is deep and nuanced while also being tightly knit in a bow that makes it easily recognizable. Not all tracks are bangers, such as azys lla or the lochs (imo), but to call them all awful is factually incorrect. Each zone's theme greatly benefits the experience of the area it plays in. An example i can grab off the top of my memory is coerthas western highlands. The area is a desolate and snowy battlefield littered with frozen over ruins of once beautiful towns. The music that plays is a somber and slow piano rendition of the dragonsong, showcasing the damage that the thousand year long war has done to the area and how hopeless the zone feels. I have no opinion on wow because the animation and art design dont gel with what i like in a game, so i can't compare it to wow, but i doubt wow has absolutely mind blowing over world music either. Its meant to provide ambience to a zone, not make you cream your jorts.

@@Alex-kq2pf you don't really need a build guide, but build guides make it easier. all you need is a grocery list. you want a hamburger (or in terms of the game, x build that uses y ability and element) and so you make a grocery list of the necessary ingredients. the skill tree contains all ingredients and groups of ingredients are the group of nodes with specific effects. each class lives closer or further away from some supermarkets that might have better ingredients, so if you want to be faster/more efficient at getting those ingredients, you might want to pick a certain class. that's all that skill tree is. oh no there's a lot of blips on screen and each one of them has text that i need to read and understand. false. you can ignore most of it. it all follows a logical arrangement. hover your mouse randomly and you'll find an ingredient you like. they might even be color coded. look nearby and you'll see more similar ingredients that synergize. and thus you jump from node to node and you put together an idea of the pathway you want to take on that skill tree. you can then make decisions, does this group of nodes sound good for your build? yes? no? etc

I think the biggest problem is mentality. Some of these game companies have this mentality where their customers are somehow these unfair judges who are always the reason the game fails in any way, shape or form. They are trying to put the responsibility of the games success on YOU the player when they are the ones with all the tools and manpower and the rights to the IP. It's their job to make a game and it's their fault if that game fails but they refuse to accept this and it's created this weird lazy attitude where they stop trying because it's not their fault, it's yours. It's hard to articulate this right now as I'm candy drunk from Christmas but I find it insane to think this way. Look at the meme that is "Don't you guys have phones?". 36:00 This passive tree looks big for a new player right? Fun fact It's actually small for experienced players. Newbies think it's complicated and hard and big when they look at the tree for the first time, but our pov is like 'we want more diversity, we want more options, we need a bigger tree' it's not because we like playing hard games, it's because it gives us a lot of different play styles, options to choose and customize our characters and play the game differently. Even when I don't play the game regularly, I make new builds with an application called "Path of Exile Building Community" to play in the new season. I enjoy a lot to make my own builds and try them in the new season. I made a lot of builds just for fun, I didn't even play them yet, they're just sitting there and waiting for an opportunity. 53:00 They made dungeons less populated, reduced the monster population in the first month. It was like walking simulation, come on man we're here to play and kill some monsters. After that, I just couldn't take it anymore and quit. 1:05:55 y Poe took years to make it great and they made it right? Blizzard had years as well, what did they do? Nothing. Diablo 4 is a good story game, nothing more, just end the game, kill the Lilith and stop playing for your own sake, cuz it's not worth playing.

Hell, as an old man pushing 50 I'm not even sure I want my favorite games to be progressive - I prefer my gaming advances to be incremental to where it feels like the previous game, but has a few minor differences. Starcraft 2 is a great example. It played very much like SC1 and had many of the same units and buildings so I didn't feel entirely lost, but it replaced and upgraded a few units, so that it felt like a new game, but familiar at the same time. Diablo 2 is another great example - it took what Diablo 1 did and made it overall better. But then Diablo 3 came out and tried to tell us that we didn't want Diablo 2.5 - we want a completely different experience. We want a watered-down version of Diablo. A simplified version. As it turns out, that's not what we wanted at all, so Blizzard pretty much gave us a darker version of Diablo 3, trying to trick us into believing that it would feel more like D2. Hell, I still enjoy Diablo 1 and am one of maybe ten people who want a D1 remake.

At the start of the Video Asmon mentioned why New World couldn't do unique towns, why it was all copy pasted. If you think about it, making a new Town layout is about the same amount of work as copy pasting. Thinking of it, it's maybe even more work to copy paste the layout because the building models are different from Town to Town. So my best guess is, that they went out of their way to design all the Towns in a way that they have similar layouts. Maybe they thought it would help navigation or something. If you don't have to learn 10 layout, but 1 instead. Idk. Ultimatly it backfired and they did extra steps to make the game worse.

No it definitely takes more work to design a new layout than simply copy paste an existing one. Idk why you would even think that's not the case. I mean you can literally replicate an entire town with a single button, you can't design a new town layout with a single button. And it ain't because they wanted to make it easier to get around so they just copy pasted all the towns, that's just a dumb excuse, it's literally because they were too lazy to do so. If you gave me a selection of buildings I could come up with multiple town layouts within a single day, why can Amazon not do that? They can, they just didn't want to. Why spend a day creating new ones when you can take five seconds to just copy paste it, and although players might be mad you'll also have other players defend you for doing so, and give you excuses for why you did something.

There's a very simple solution to the aspect problem and it's already in game. All they have to do is add aspects to the codex. When you extract an aspect, instead of getting an item in your inventory it's added to the codex and it gets updated as you find better rolls. So you when you get a bad roll and add it to the codex, then when you find a perfect roll, it updates the roll on that aspect in the codex. No more 20 perfect rolls of the same aspect in your inventory

PoE offers SO MUCH content and replayability. The variations of the skills allow for SO much diversity and original designs, the unique items (most) have ACTUAL unique effects and grant special modifiers to gear that you often can't find on rare items. The customization to skill trees and abilities are what people love, chasing that power fantasy of forever being stronger but and this is HUGE and I think most people miss this, PoE allows those with power to juice their end game and maps to such a degree that its genuinely worth investing and playing the maps when you can juice them to be harder and more rewarding. You don't have to just FARM bosses and in most cases simply farming bosses will not be as valuable as juicing maps and running those. PoE gives you so much more incentive to play and come back and make someone new and D4.... gives nothing but "world visuals"

They should let us use gem dust in d4 to improve crafting. Things like, locking one stat and rerolling the entire item. Or enchanting one stat, and then upgrading it by one level. Or, crafting one affix, then locking it with dust allowing you to roll another affix. Or ither various things. Something that takes materials, cash, and gem dust to sink into. On a seperate note, i'd love to see another progression path like gear/paragon/skills. Another horizontal progression. Though i would also like some kind of use for experience gained after level 100 as well. I dont know about anyone else, btut it feels pointless killing mobs after hitting 100, when could just run past them and get more for it. EDIT: guessing asmon doesnt know you can build around light radius? There are more niche affixes, and less used affixes, but i dont think there are actually any bad affixes in poe.

The could make character customization like Hideout customization, you can speed hours setting it up messing around and then save those setups so you can continue tweaking and trying new things. So they can make character customization an option that isn't required to get into the game and isn't a time sync once you've settled on a number of designs. Then they could sell a "hide item on character" skin. lol
@Member_zero

Well luck would have it, we have PoB to do more or less exactly this. You can make a lot of character designs outside of game, and then play the one you like. It's how a lot of people play PoE once they know a bit about it really. More over, you can share those designs on the internet with all the other players, so that for people who don't want to sink time into creating those characters, can just use them :) People call it following a build. And majority of players actually play like that. I do both, create my own characters, which are mostly failed science experiments (but do sometimes work), as well as copy a cool ideas other people have, and tweaking them a bit to suit me. Theorycrafters once advanced spend way more time outside the game, in PoB creating, than actually playing xD. P.S.: You can even craft items outside the game, to plan everything and estimate the materials needed.

Lol, I started playing POE like 8 days ago. I started with a maruader, started building standard strength build, but I had skills with no items that had sockets for them. Ex. club with three green sockets and a helmet with a blue and red socket. But then I found green gems that actually complimented a counter attck build. So I started doing that, which led me to building more life regen. Now Instead of a standard damage build, I have a manaless, life gain on hit, aoe chain, counter attck build. I'm pretty much wolverine now because when 22 enemies attack me my health regens as soon as they deal damage and when I get elemental damage that knocks my health low I just smash them with my life gain on hit skills and regen my life with in a few hits and I also started building stun support with items that help bring down enemies stun threshold. So right now, every fight feels like I'm fvkn wolverine just going beserk, but I have to work for it since I have meh damage. Eventually i get jumped by 30 monsters at a time and I'm in the thick of it. I'm playing yet watching a movie at the same time lol. With other games (Lost ark) I get to the point were I'm loggin on for an hour and for an hour I'm doing tasks. Like wtf, I wanna enjoy myself, I have enough chores IRL lmao. I'd like to point out that while PoE2 seems like an epic game, the whole point about the devs saying it's in "Alpha" is kind of moot. Alpha/Beta schemes have become essentially a marketing term. It's used by greedy companies to soften the customers views of poor quality content, and decent games like PoE2 COULD claim the game is only in alpha, despite viewing it internally as a beta phase, to build up hype for how much more content and polish the game will have on release. So when a company says a game is in Alpha/Beta...it's likely just attempted manipulation of public opinion, so don't worry about that. Look at the current progress achieved, and the supposed release date, and base you opinion on that.

The comparison with WoW and boss design was very good. I have played WoW mostly ON since middle of TBC. I have always raided without boss mods because they were not really needed. A lot of bosses had a rhythm and you can "sense" when stuff was going to happen. Asmond is right that around the middle of MoP things changed, or at least it was the tipping point for me. The amount of clutter became too much and mechanics required additional help. This goes into the issue with modern WoW and addons, but in ToT (middle raid in MoP), ji-kun boss, something spawns on a platform you cant see unless you fly to it. Too much important stuff is not easily visible. As Asmon said, it is not difficulty, it is bad design. Am i fighting the boss or the interface/clutter. I started playing CoD again recently (end of MW2/Mw3 now) and the amount of smoke/unnecessary clutter is an issue there as well. For comparison, The finals which is a recent FPS game has very cleaned up design and doesn't show you what you don't need to care about. So ye.. bad design is bad.

diablo 4's issues to me is they tried to reinvent the wheel when all we wanted was diablo 2's mechanics improved with better graphics and continuing story. Diablo 4 feels like a mini mmo which is not diablo, diablo is suppose to be a DnD lite styled Arpg dungeon crawler.

The problem with PoE crafting is you need a 3rd party website to craft effectively. For example; you don't know the chances of getting modifiers without looking them up.

I think a good way to fix this "skill trees problem" that PoE has is to have a really solid recommendation system, so new players would just choose a class and a clear viable playstyle you'd lit up for new players (with a option for not showing anymore). So new players can focus only on enjoying the gameplay first and have fun looting. By the time they would opt out and change the Standard skill tree they would have already been hooked up.

So basically have a few tree options. - Starter = All characters have a "class tree" that aims the character towards a focus of the Ascendancy it has. - Moderate = Same thing but the "class tree" is a bit more complex and you can branch out a little - Standard = The basic overwhelming tree

Activision has been RIGGING their games in REAL TIME ENGAGEMENTS amongst many other ways... I exposed this as a former PRO COD player way back during black ops 1 when the rigging was subtle. They do this with ALL their games to curate not only ILLUSIONS OF COMPEITION in a game like COD but also manipulating all other faculties of the game to control HIGHS n LOWS you experience, they do this based off INDIVIDUAL PLAYER DATA, so a worse player always has the advantage, and the better player will always have the disadvantage. The gaming industry has almost been fully monopolized at this point with console being at lost cause victimhood to the mega corps who are all under the same evil interest umbrella... Goes way deeper then this but most arent ready to fathom whats been said already, sadly.

Not only do the color schemes make it difficult to enjoy, the timing of the animations makes them impossible to avoid. This sucks when the mechanic is a guaranteed oneshot. Our characters couldn't get out of the way fast enough even if our own reaction time was near 0. It takes longer than 0.1 seconds to recognize and respond to a visual "tell". The obvious mechanic that I raise as an example is Echo of Lilith spike walls. Specifically the one that spawns from her. I have died SO many times to being hit by that spike wall BEFORE it has visually loaded and before Lilith has even dropped back down. Another mechanic is fighting fire wraiths. They have an attack that has a tell that draws a long red rectangle on the ground. As soon as you see it, if you aren't already hitting your evade, you will get hit. Another bad animation would be the "death wave" from certain drowned elites/bosses. There is no tell it is going to happen, and when it happens, the circle from the wave grows insta fast. You can not react to it fast enough.

27:20 See that's one things that's annoying me slightly about the boss encounters they are showing from PoE2, all the arena/fight areas are TINY AF. Like you can barely even kite anything or avoid hits because you are immediately running into some wall. I'm not sure if the maps are just a bit more cramped this time around and so the random locations are often small, but its like boss fights in a maintenance closet, so restrictive.

Here's a tip just play the game till you feel stuck then open a guide and basically just look at the skills it uses and the skill tree path that's it you won't need anything else and it's just a single page you look at with very little information so you won't feel overwhelmed at most just read what your skills do and what point's your taking in the skill tree then you'l naturally learn the game as you go without needing the whole dang wiki lol. The only page I use is the one that shows my gear & skills and the skill path below it that's it no other programs or anything just search up best starter build's then it's very simple.

I played through the campaign without reading guides, and as long as you don't go into some of the late-game content, you can play through it rather easily. Not sure if there are difficulty settings, but it's very manageble. I never got into all the intricate details and it was still fun. You don't have to min-max everything to experience the game.^^

This is why whenever a game company makes a super great game and starts hiring a ton of people like CDPR or Bioware did their next game after that is way worse then the company starts to slowly die. Teams like larian, fromsoft, hello games and so on are so insanely successful because they are all friends who are on the same page and are passionate about the mission but also properly communicate at all levels. This is also what made valve so insanely successful at game making as well.

32:15 About character customization, I understand the reasons behind GGG not wanting it. But I see a middle ground, to at least give players the option to do it. I would put in slots for templates (they could make extra money from this too!) and every player could hold one (or several) template/s of each character which they could just use instantly when creating new characters of that type.

In terms of trading, I like the system of Last Epoch the most. If you are grouping, you can trade the items you found by right clicking on the portrait of their character and send them the stuff - but only when you were together in a group on the same map at the moment of the drop. If you were on different maps, you can´t trade. Edit: I also think that systems, where you have to trade outside of a game it is bad design. I don´t like it in PoE and I also don´t like it in Warframe. It complicates things too much for my taste.

Agreed with everything except the Wow boss fights being overdesigned. Between LFR, Normal, Heroic and Mythic the variation in compleximity is extremely high. Some boss on LFR is almost a dummy target with 2 mechanics and the same boss in Mythic has ridicilously tight mechanic. So pick and choose the difficulty you wanna face off. If it's too hard for you then that's that. Game is designed to be beatable in every step.
