There was a sequence where you needed to drive through a collapsing arena before it explodes, avoiding enemies and obstacles while absolute chaos was all around you. I think many people have unrealistic expectations though....especially non PoE1 players. I'm expecting a lot of hate threads once early access launches. Everything from "it's still too complicated! They said it'd be new player friendly!" to "it's just boring!" (because said person has no idea how to play an ARPG). I hate 6 linking in PoE1 so much. My Earliest Achievement is Nov 19th, 2013. The achievement for 6 linking an item with an orb of fusion is Oct 2nd, 2018.

Now you'll need to six link more stuff. Might be wrong but from what I understand not all gems drop with 5 support slots and you need to roll them with some currency to make them have 5 support slots. Probably wont take 1000 orbs like current 6-linking tho.

The full list of skill gems with video description is the biggest win for new players. When I was starting POE1 I spent ages trying to find a good summary and example of all the witch spells so I could decide what element I wanted to play around with. Getting that first skill gem in POE1 and finding a bunch of forum/reddit posts telling me I needed to find a build ruined it for me and are why I quit initially, so having the in-game videos will be great. Also I have never played endgame in any ARPG, I usually finish the main story then move on to other games, usually returning every so often to try a different class. I think new players not having a build that is valid for endgame is perfectly fine, they can play a fun build, learn the mechanics, learn the bosses etc and start a new character when they want to optimise for endgame or wait until the next league starts. Or better yet, in POE2 they can reset their skills after experimenting and respec, such a QoL improvement.

On the other hand, bricking your 40 hours character because the game doesn't tell you shit and you have no way of respecing is a terrible feeling. Which is way PoE2 is so good, the cost to respec is low, and you don't have to faf about gem links in equipment. This is why I don't keep playing PoE1, the game pushes players to 3rd party tools because of how punishing and unfriendly the game systems are, they aren't even fun, just punishing.

46:50 it's good that you touched on this, but you actually didn't even go far enough. When you're following a build guide, you also usually watched the build perform with endgame gear. So after "well there's the combo", often newer players who don't know what to expect will go a step farther and be like "that was... underwhelming." Because the combo wasn't as big and juicy as on a 200 divine map farmer when they just used it the first time at level 60.

To be fair, your first time experience was not GGG's fault but most of chat just being really shitty teachers throwing everything they know at you at once :') Why do they make you worry about PoE awakened? You're not in endgame you're not going to be trading anytime soon, you're going to as you said figure out what a skillgem is. PoB is a second build kind of ordeal, you bash your face into the game until you problems you cannot fix, now you install PoB and either learn how to plan around it directly, or follow a build so you can at least see the rest of the game to inspire you for a nice build later. The only thing a first time player probably should be hearing about on their first playthrough, is a lootfilter. Arguably not even before act 4 or whenever someone starts to complain about the loot clutter, but aside from removing clutter it's also really good at teaching you which items are important for you right now so for that reason doing it in act 1 might be beneficial. But 3rd party discussion should never ever even start before Hillock. All you need for hillock is a mouse connected to your PC and then the tutorial of the game will show you about the gems, sockets, what to do with them, finally you have to asign a point in the skilltree before you can enter town, then if you don't cry and uninstall after seeing the skilltree and you're safe in town we can talk business about a filter at its earliest.

If you want your build be at least somewhat adequate for yellow maps (at least), u already have to use Path of building cuz otherwise you won't even be able to see the maths. Playing on trade league without awakened poe trade is simply a joke, i think it's understandable. You're supposed to use external website+3rd party software to trade in the game (which is insane). Then you're also meant to use craftofexile (for obvious reasons) and some other external websites as well. Some ppl also use 3rd software for speedrunning absolutely sleep-inducing campaign. None of mentioned above software/websites has anything to do with "following a build" lmao. In fact if you want to do your own build, the amount of software/websites you would like to use grows. There's a good reason 99% of poe players are simply following builds which were theorized pre-league launch and do some occasional tweaks depending on their current state (if they're somewhat experienced). Don't pretend that by making your own build game somehow becomes easier and does not require you to use 3rd party software or external websites. It's only true if your goal for league is ending the campaign and staying on white maps. But if that's your goal for league there's no reason to play PoE at all. Like what would be the reason to play the game which is famous for its endgame without ever touching its endgame.

My wife loves POE but has never wanted to actually learn the extensive game, now with POE2 i can actually run her through a lot of it while playing the game next to her, i legit went crazy when they not only announced couch co op, but CROSS PROGRESSION, so i can fine tune things when we arent playing or even still progress other things if im at my PC instead of the console, or even just open the "co op" characters and even look at things if im at my pc, rather than having to look them up, or going back to the console and loading it up.

They have some passive bonuses in the strength section that are things like, "25% of armor applies to fire damage" and "2% maximum fire resistance for every 40% uncapped fire resistance." With WASD if you need to move down left, but you need to aim up right, both can be done at the same time now where with clicking you have to choose which to do first while swinging the mouse more.

My wife has only recently gotten into video games. We played Diablo IV together but through discord chat. With PoE2 having couch co-op, it'll be a lot easier to walk her through build guides, or teach mechanics of the game if I'm able to see her screen directly.

23:53 more vs increased is VERY dependant in certain situations. Like if your main skill is doing 1000 damage for example, would you rather want 200 MORE damage or 25% INCREASED damage? Obviously the % increase right? Makes more sense because the higher the base damage, the less that "more" becomes less potent unless the % increase gives less

WASD is the way. Used it day one with D4, using remapping software, and it was great. Also it's really clean in the tons of Steam games that use it. Such as The Ascent, Hades, Synthetik, Darkwood, etc. Glad to see that GGG devs understand how great it truly is

Very much a PC player but playing D4 on the PS5 has been awesome with the cross progression and crossplay even the couch coop is done very well. Hes been super sad he can't play with me when I'm playing POE on my PC. Needless to stay we are both super stoked for POE2 next week!

I think they did a good job with making it more approachable, for example, the recommend gem skill choices, also id like to see a highlight recommended passive node recommendation choice. Just like skill gems you can have recommendations. All this will be good for new players, however my biggest advice for new players is to study the POE terminology of the system. Otherwise I think new players will be frustrated on reading exactly what the node or item actually effects and gives you.
