This brought back memories. I was just an elementary school kid by then. I lack interest in learning English even though I have been forced to go summer cram school since I was on third grade. In 2001, my country hasn't introduced the translated version of The Frozen Throne. I had to bring my dictionary with me when I watch cinematic and read quest description. People wouldn't believe it that a video game somehow raised interest of a young soul to study a foreign language and culture. Since then, I became a fan of western magic& sword(or D&D) fantasy. My journey continues after that then I actually become a first generation immigrant. WC3 really shaped my destiny.

Just one thing though - those members of the Cult of the Damned were probably Humans. The Cult of the Damned was an organization that Kel'thuzad led, and it manipulated the living to serve the Scourge where the dead could not. Undeath was considered an honorable privilege earned through service, so I *suppose* they could have been undead, but, yeah...
@mulanszechuansauceisthemeaning6 жыл бұрын
You are right - acolytes are not undead, they are fanatic humans. They live to serve the Lich King, and ask "where shall their blood be spilled" in wc III campaign. Not even sure Kel'Thuzad was undead during the human campaign when Arthas killed him.

Although you get a few skeletons in wc3 when nearing the graveyard in that mission. He does say that the graves were dug recently, I think zombie models would have been a better choice. For the sake of story telling. Also, his mount Invincible was raised near the Balnir farm that bred the horse. Other than that, nice work!
@cooltv27766 жыл бұрын
zombie models would definitely have been better, as you get ghoul units rather than skeletal ones im pretty sure he raised his horse before this mission takes place, but it added nicely to the scene (if not 100% canon)

Great idea to include the raising of Invincible here. The Scourge story lays out a lot of the lore and ultimate stakes for Reign of Chaos, but only once Kel'Thuzad gets back. Until he does, we're stuck with Arthas, who needs something new to do if we're going to still be following him around now that his antihero arc is concluded. And that's a bit of a tough sell, since right now all he wants to do is Lich King laundry, and because of magic mind control, not because of any relatable emotions or values he has. What he DOES have are new powers. Just as how in the game the player is getting to try out the Undead, Arthas gets to spend some time showing off his Death Knighting and being really cold-blooded as the Scourging of Lordaeron starts to kick into high gear. And that means, more than anything, Animate Dead. Getting that mount is a great way to emphasize his rising to heightened, but evil, power. That said, if it were me I would probably have made this bit shorter. While showing Arthas being a sneaky knight is very true to the game, a viewer doesn't get to care about positioning and micromanagement the way a player does, and it's going to get boring around here quick without a character with emotions. I say fast-track to the betrayal of Uther - it's super emotional and represents both Lordaeron's fall and Arthas's part in it extremely efficiently, and it gets us to Kel'Thuzad, the real main character of the Scourge arc. For this level, getting to the graveyard and raising the horse and a bunch of skeletons is the important bit, so just do one acolyte to drop the lines about that and Kel'Thuzad, have Arthas go to the graveyard and animate a cool army that overruns the town (maybe presented as a rapid mass night assassination, to preserve the stealth concept), and then have Arthas in the town square as the cultists emerge creepily from the alleys all around him and encircle him for the ending conversation with Tichondrius. Cut out most of the sneaking around and the individual acolyte scenes. Arthas is cruel and cold-blooded, he's raising dead, the cult is following him but he's kind of following them, bing bang boom we can get to the meat of things.

Nice video, even tho I imagined it differently. Rather than being a ninja figure here on the video, I would have portrayed Arthas as this omnious shadowly presence that stalks the land on his steed. He moves slowly but indiscriminately by the road from farm to farm as villagers either choke in fear or awe before the shadowly figure. As the acolytes sees him they lose their disguise and quietly abandons their families and homes and begins to follow the shadowly figure, as each joins it becomes an omnious march. There are soldiers who finds the courage and identify the evil presence as Arthas the kingslayer, they attack as duty calls, but are easily and gruesomely murdered, and so the others choose to flee. Great video tho
