First of all, I cannot stand Lily Allen, & never have, with her pseudo girl-next-door stage persona fishing for cheap giggles to sell her crap music. Now, about this topic: I am not really a football fan and I consider myself classless (it's difficult to identify with any class when you live in the middle of nowhere!) However, I see the joy and excitement it brings to millions of people, and the rare spirit of togetherness it creates, and that can only be a good thing. Whether you're a diehard season ticket holder or someone like me who only tunes in for the Euros/World Cup finals, apart from the game itself it brings a sense of belonging, which is important for people as it's part of human nature. That is why I find Allen's obvious deep-seated contempt so obnoxious. Now that she has revealed her true colours, my hope is that enough people will remember this next time she releases a record or goes on tour, to hit her where it really hurts (which is all she really cares about.)
