[Pathfinder: Kingmaker] Evil build that can one shot bosses! High DPS, AC and Persuasion.

Brilliant. In depth. Over my head even. I played AD&D for a lonnnng time and settled on 3.5. Pathfinder is awesome but new to me. The details you laid out in this build seem like overkill! Then again, I play on normal difficulty. At any rate, I'm gonna give this a shot. Thank you very much for the time and effort you put into this!

God I am glad someone decided to post some kingmaker stuff I hate how all of it is 8 years old when I think WOTR is out and coming to console now is an amazing time to do kingmaker and WOTR cause I ik a lot of people would appreciate things you can't learn to much for this game.

I total agree that You can't learn too much for Pathfinder, there a so many interactions that even after spending 2k+ hours with it, I still don't know most of them :)

Great build. Used it as a merc. With greater invis + true strike hits everything on hard dificulty. After greater vital strike can pretty much solo bane of the living with useless jaethal just failing remove curse scroll

I would guess greater cleaving finish has the same bug as with wrath of the righteous. Due to a pretty significant bug, it often functions simply as cleaving finish. Basically, all cleaving finish attacks are calculated in the same instant as the first killing blow is landed, and to generate a further cleaving finish attack, each subsequent hit must also be a killing blow. A vital strike often achieves this without, and nearly always achieves this with, a critical hit, so this should be great. However, any targets which have died due to either the initial kill or due to a subsequent kill from cleaving finish remain eligible as targets for cleaving finish for that instant whilst the cleaving finish attacks are calculated. The next target is also chosen based on proximity, so it is usually the case that you land a kill, cleave onto a second target, and if it kills that target, the closest next target will be the first target you killed, so you cleave back onto that already dead target, and whilst the damage will register, no further killing blow will register, thus prematurely ending the cleaving chain. If you check the combat log, you will see 3 hits against only 2 targets. This can be played around a little, if you make a point of selecting an initial kill target which is further away than other enemies clustered together, so when the cleave occurs, the next target to die will be closer to another target than the initial kill, thus generating a further cleave. This isnt always practical, and getting this to work beyond 3 targets is extremely difficult to do reliably. I have very rarely seen a chain of 4 kills, but generally its just 2 or 3, with 2 being the most common by far if you dont actively play around the bug. So if you arent prepared to do this, dumping 2 extra feats on improved cleaving finish is a dubious pick given you rely on a single powerful attack per round. With outflank and and opportunist, you do generate a decent number of AoOs, but these are much less likely to be killing blows, and even if they are, you cleave with standard attack rather than vital strike damage, so these additional cleaves are of greatly diminished value. It could also be seen as a safeguard against wasting your 1 cleave per round on an AoO killing blow however, as with improved cleaving finish, even if this does happen, you will still cleave off vital strike kills in the same round.

done the maths and tests, vital strike is bad. and crit chances low. 5 attack that can each crit seem better better use normal attack. save 3 feats. cleave bad to. we don't want trash efficiency .. save 2 more feats. + I use fauchard, i lose 1d8 damage but reach + better crit. true strike useless because dimension strike is a swift action too. save 1 feat quick metamagic. 6 feat for outflank, doge, improved critical, critical focus, + 1 dice sneak attack , seize the moment.

I don't agree with probability, cause getting 5 crits with 5 attacks is far lest probable, then getting one crit that hits like a truck (20% to crit with 4x damage vs 13% to crit 3 times in 5 hits - chance to crit 5 time is 0.243% so statistically not relevant) also You would burn through arcane pool quickly if You would have Perfect Strike on. Thanks for the feedback, totally agree that the build that You mention is a good sword saint build and maybe will help someone. I wanted a build that can one shot bosses, and it does that and more :)

@@StratosOnline arcane pool is an issue yes i didn't noticed that ... my combats never excced 1 round .. calculation is more like : vital strike: 180 damage normal hit (16x8+50) / 540 damage crit hit (16x8+50)x3 normal strike: 90 damage normal hit (4x8+50) / 250 damage crit hit (4x8+50)x3 100 round vital strike (1 attack per round): 80x 180 normal hit + 20 x 540 crit hit (20%crit) : 25260 damage 100 round normal strike (5 attack per round): 400x90 normal hit + 100x 250 crit hit (20% crit) : 61000 damage Thanks for your build !

@@JohnSmith-vm6hd Thank You for the math, it is really great to have a good conversation backed up by math / calculations. Yes also You can add sneak attack and other damages, and You are correct that it will outshine the Damage per Turn of this build. However, You can't do one thing - move and 5x attack in one turn because You need full attack, while this build can do swift action, move and attack. Also with how cleaving Finish works here (uses the vital strike multi) that makes it capable to clear multiple targets in one turn even after move. I know that with Fauchard and size Your reach is huge, so probably not a problem for You. Also, my build is easier to save scum because I just need 20% to get the vital strike crit, while You have about 3% to get 4/5 attacks to crit with the 15/20 crit range. It is all hypothetical, cause both build will destroy anything in 1-2 rounds anyhow. Once again thank You for the feedback because, my build is designed for some play style and that may not be clear to everyone and our discussion my help to clarify some things :)

there's an aasimar feat, not sure if he took it but at like level 9 or so aasimars can take the wings feat to get +3 to AC and ignore difficult terrain iirc

Hope You like it :). For Aldori Swordlord it is an ok Prestige class but nothing really special, If You focus on Dex with weapon finesse and crane style feats You will get a decent tank with not bad damage. I wouldn't compare it with Sword Saint or Vivisectionist, though they are on 2 different levels of power :)

Hello thanks for the build. I follow your guide but at level four, the magus arcana, does not let me choose the metamagic feat. Am i doing something wrong or did they change something?

Sorry for late replay (was sick), but magus arcane is not a metamegic feat, but something in addition. In the Magus Arcana tab of Your level up process, You should see "Extended Magic". Selecting this will give you a new ability to be able to use 3 times a day to extend Your next spell regardless of level. This is not a Metamagic Feat it is more like Rod of Extend. Hope that clarifies a bit. Once again sorry I couldn't help earlier!

Yes You can, the damage will be a bit lower, maybe You will not one shot some bosses, but You'll have reach and a more crit chance, IIRC :)

Hi, thanks for the comment. Yes, You can play this build with Good and Neutral character. Neutral is the worst I think, as You lose the castigator cloak so would have to switch some items to make up the loss of the AC, Saves and deflection. But for Good You take the Absolver's Cloak, Protector's Rob and You are good to go (if You also switch 2 levels of Magus to Paladin You are also ultra tanky). I will try to update the document with the build with 2 other variants for Neutral and Good in next 2-3 days.

How are you meeting the BaB requirement for greater vital strike? Even at level 20 you should only have 14 BaB, no?

With the magic of Sword Saint :). At level 9 it gets Critical Perfection that also allows using Sword Saint level instead of BaB to qualify for feats. So we add BaB from other classes (like Monk) and Sword Saint level to meet the BaB requirement.

hmm... Paladin for me was always a 2 level wonder :) If I would do a Paladin it would only be a support off tank with some CC. So 16 lvl Paladin, 1 Thug, 1 Scale Fist Monk, 2 Vivi (for cotagen). Stats Cha>Str>Dex>Con. From level 11 of Paladin, Mark of Justice makes everyone hit so much better. Feats to get Dreadful carnage, some 2 handed reach weapon, intimidating prowess + skill focus: persuasion. You smite/mark of justice, hit, kill, frighten everyone and repeat. Not a one shot boss killer, but a decent party member :) But that is just for the top of my head, probably could optimize it a bit more :)

Yeah, this build was design to be capable to handle Unfair, it should be tanky enough, hit often enough and deal a lot of damage. Act 1 is not super easy but what is on Unfair. First part of the game You mostly tank with it, and then You add the punch.

@@hmm-hv8bn Tested on PC version 2.1.7b just a moment ago and Extended Magic is there, so I don't think it is a patch thing. Do you use any mods (like eldritch arcana)? If this is some strange bug, lack of Extend Magic is not build breaking, so You can take arcane accuracy to help in the beginning and just get Yourself one more rod of extended magic, and it will work the same.

@@hmm-hv8bn Yeah, I only have the steam version, and it looks fine, sorry. Once I get to level 4 of the build (3rd SS level) I get the option to choose Magus Arcana with 5 choices. Rod works great in this game, when active it makes the next spell extended (but not making it more difficult to cast like the feat does) and uses one charge out of 3. When You rest, all the charges reset. So if You have 3 rods like that, it means 9 extended spells per rest.
