Thank you so much for the no frills review. Its nice to hear honest opinions that don't overly praise. Especially helpful that you had a space horse as reference.

Thanks. Really trying to do reviews that are more than just repeating press releases. Makes it harder to get gear to review though.

Agree on the road+ 650b tires. Would be cool if A.C. offered it on a build with that wheelset too. Great vid as usual Russ.

The sizing nomenclature isn't that weird if it's off of ST length. What's weird is that they make these small size bikes intended for use with bigger tires and insist on using 700c wheels... which forces them to push the TT out disproportionately.

Cool review. You've gotten noticeably slimmer since this video. Props!

Great review! I had been waiting for this bike to be release for a while and it looks great, wish it had a 1X drivetrain option. Any change of reviewing the 18' Kona Sutra LTD? Keep the great videos coming!
@shannonstrobel67277 жыл бұрын
it already has SRAM componentry, if you are willing to lay out the $$, get the Eagle 1x drive-train. The bike looks like it will stay in service long after the stock drive train wears out...

hello, new here. been riding mountain bikes for the past 2 years, want to get a allroad/gravel bike, will most liking be riding through flat Houston, Texas. So mostly pavement. Should i get the Cosmic Stallion or the Space Horse?
@darkcrystal999 Жыл бұрын
Fast forward to 2023, is Cosmic Stallion a good alternative to Midnight Special?
@PathLessPedaledTV Жыл бұрын
Cosmic Stallion is a light touring bike and the Midnight Special is a fat tired road bike. They handle completely different and aren’t interchangeable from a handling perspective.

i'm a proud owner of one of these beasts now. i'm very happy with this guy. my setup is a bit different. took me a few weeks to get used to each other but i love it more and more every day.

How was your sizing? As Russ mentioned, the sizing is off.
@HerrmannHinz6 жыл бұрын
got help from my local bike dealer when choosing the size. they took a ruler and measured everything. including myself haha :) choose a 52cm frame, i'm 170cm tall. in the beginning i was like: the bike is a little big but after a while i'm used to it and it fits perfect now. if you have the chance test the frame yourself. sit on it. we did not had much problems choosing the right size in the end.

Fender mounts, massive clearances and a threaded BB and full housing external cable routing... ticks all the boxes. Need.

Thanks for the review! Do you have any thoughts on how the Cosmic Stallion compares to the Salsa Vaya? I know these bikes are not exactly in the same category, but I'm interested in your thoughts because I know you're familiar with them both. Thanks again for the great review!
@PathLessPedaledTV6 жыл бұрын
Cosmic Stallion is a little lighter overall and a little more sprightly. The Vaya rides a bit more touring bike-ish, but not quite Surly LHT territory.

Thanks, Path Less Pedaled! I’m looking for a good all-arounder that can handle (casual) group road rides, gravel roads, occasional single track, and light touring. I’m kinda leaning toward the CS which I’ve already taken out on a ride. My shop should have a Vaya on Friday to check out, so I will try to remain unbiased until then. I appreciate your feedback. Thank you again

Hey! Thinking about buying this bike. Curious about sizing, you said the 52 was kind of big. Mind if I ask how tall you are?

I’m 5’8. The size 49 has a 520 top tube.

@@PathLessPedaledTV What is your inseam? Looking to buy now and with all the bike shops closed, want to make sure I make the right decision. I am 5'6" and trying to decide between the 46 and 49. I feel like I have a little short-than-average legs

+ismael ramirez wheel size. Smaller than 700c but larger than 26.
@shannonstrobel67277 жыл бұрын
it's the rough equivalent of an MTB 27.5 inch tire. the 29er is pretty much the 700c, but MTB'ers won't admit it :P

What do you think about the all city macho man flat bar?
@Bungle6 жыл бұрын
I don't think I want the top tube to be parallel to the ground in a gravel bike. I ride in an aggressive position but not that far.

How tall are you Russ? How was the standover?
@charlessanchez31484 жыл бұрын
I would like to know the answers as well. He said that he had to change the stem length to make the bike rideable. And because of that, the standover height 790mm may have been too high for him. It's unlikely that he will respond since he made the video Aug 20, 2017 almost 3 years ago.
@saintless5 ай бұрын
Four years late, but he's 5'8" with a 29" inseam. He usually rides a 52cm frame measured by toptube... or a 49cm for All-City. (from Gorilla Monsoon video).
