This was an opportunity to sit down with you and talk about our first two dry camps using our Kodiak while on the Big Haul. So this is more of a recap of our last two camps and what we learned from it.

Thanks for the dry camping review. We are venturing more in to dry camping and we do enjoy it. We run with two 6v GC batteries with 170 roof solar and 200 portable panel. Have not needed to use generator to charge but like you we are not using a lot of power hogs, other than furnace. I’m with ya would like to upgrade to lithium just to have more useable amp hours. We are with Abby on summer camping. Love the Sw in the spring and higher elevations in the summer.

@14:56 That shot of Orion was great! I don't know if you're into telescopes but with all the dark sky places you visit I'd go nuts! Something like a Meade ETX 90mm Mak and a few eyepieces and a camera adapter or two would definitely be in MY kit! I have some bigger ones, but that little thing is my favorite "grab and go" 'scope... 🤔

We stayed in that exact site in 2021 during the beginning of Covid. We were on our return back to NC. That site is the Primo site for sure but it was so windy that we couldn’t cook outside. It was a still a fantastic stay! Thanks for the video!!

Thanks for sharing there are different types of Lithium batteries Lithium Ion are subject to thermal runaway while the Lithium Fe batteries are not as likely to catch fire. A good general purpose binocular I use is a 10x50. Have safe trip back.

The telescope/binocular thing Abby said, i'm gonna own it as i sugested that in the previous video. I suggest a 7x35ish for daytime or a 10x50ish for nighttime. As always love the videos. 🙂

It’s something we’ve talked about for a couple years but just haven’t invested in any of them yet.

I like you guys. Abby's infectious joy makes it all good. (My wife has turned me into a birder. Here in Central Texas, there are quite of few.)

Couple tips for future adventures. Binoculars: Swarovski NL Pures are widely considered the best binos on the market for viewing wildlife/bird, but they have a slight tint to them (best way I can describe is it makes animals contrast from terrain/veg). Leica in my opinion has the clearest and truest color in glass on the market. Personally I run Leica Noctovids, but will be trading in on the Swaros next winter. UTV/Side-by-side: Check out the Honda Pioneer 500. It is a true 50" machine, which is important here in the west because allot of trails are size limited. Fair warning though, some are 50" straddled (ATV only). It's a solid machine though. Not a ton of power, but good torque. Gear driven not belt driven, and they don't break the bank. Allot of guys drop 20-35k on UTVs, then realize they can only go where Jeeps can but they're always broke down too (Lookin at the Can-Am boys mostly). Anyways, if you find your way to Idaho or NW Montana I'd love to give you some recommendations. Spent most of my career in public land/natural resource management and I think you guys would love it

You are going to love the new batteries your going to get. Be sure you have your converter upgraded. I didn't and I could not get to 100%. Lithium batteries require a much higher full capacity to fully charge them.. Something about how they charge and reaching full. Ordinary batteries need a top off point that lithium doesn't want to have. I'm enjoying your trip. Keep it up.

We stayed at Goldings 40 years ago, it was run by the Navaho. Most beautiful place on the planet. They had 30 sites and a small camp store.

You can install 30 amps af. Solar panels on your systr. Your existing panel is probably only 15-16 amps. You can install about another 12-14 amps of panels. This would about double your total charging ability. Enjoy!
