I bought the Lightroom Editing Masterclass and already finished it and let me just say that this is nothing compared to the rest of the course, the knowledge and amount of effort that Pat stored into this Masterclass is insane, especially in the Building a visual aesthetic and my favorite module which is Editing sessions where Pat edit images from his own portfolio and it's 100% unscripted, it's about 6 hours worth of knowledge where he puts everything into practice. This Masterclass is probably my best investment yet and I still believe that it's really underpriced knowing that there are a lot of courses that offer less with a higher price. Thank you Kay!! I'm glad I came across one of your videos about 6 months ago, the amount of things I've learned from each KZbin video you upload is unmatched by any other KZbinr out there, I'll forever be grateful!!!

Thanks for this Pat. I've been playing with the tone curve for a while now, not really know what I'm doing!! and I've watched plenty of tutorials on KZbin but until I saw yours I remained fairly clueless. So now I understand it and can't wait to make something happen. Thankyou.

So, if one were to make adjustments using the tone curve and THEN make adjustments using the sliders in the basic panel, would the reverse order have any negative effects on the image? Also, if the tone curve (excluding RGB) is best for creating contrast what is the point of/difference between using the contrast slider? Often times I see tutorials in which the instructor is using both. Is that just redundant being redundant or is there a benefit in using both?

AFAIK the tone curve is applied after the basic sliders. Also the contrast slider I think just pushes highlights and shadows, or basically everything outwards from the centre of the histogram towards the outside in a more basic way, but the tone curve allows you to edit the contrast in a more precise way based on specific tone areas. I think it's important to bear in mind that you don't HAVE to use all of the sliders or the tone curve, just whatever works for your image. But if using one over the other works for you, keep doing that.

How do I get that exact set up on the right side like yours? I'm on normal Lightroom which only shows me the 'Curve' and nothing like the global histogram etc.

Do the RGB curves and the Color Grading Panel do the exact same thing or are they entirely different tools that can get you the same results? Thanks for the video!

After watching so many of Pat's videos, I just can't help pronouncing 'Paaaarticular' every time I use it in my daily life. Then I tried to find justification of where this pronunciation comes from, but I failed. It comes from nowhere. Ref: kzbin.info/www/bejne/b4mwknunm9WZr7c
