Fun fact: Back in the late 80s, Orion wanted a crossover of the two characters for a movie but was scrapped in favor of Robocop 2 due to James Cameron buying the rights to Terminator and sold it to Carolco Pictures and Tristar for T2, so even if things worked out, they still had to deal with Cameron making Terminator 2 from a different comedy and legal battles. Thus, a movie crossover was definitely impossible to make in movie form.

Next to AVP, this has been my favorite crossover and best thing to have come out of the 90's pop culture. Considering how the movies had lost steam lately and each entry having less success than the previous one, I think they really should make a Robocop Vs The Terminator movie as one last entry and the only idea left where audiences would see it since shared universes are really a big attraction nowadays. Was happy that their crossover in MK11 references their history in games and comics, and annoyed at the damn kids who think they are referencing Death Battle 😒

In the original Robocop film, he was supposed to be MUCH more agile. Peter Weller even studied with a world renowned mime, in France, to get the movement down, which all had to be changed. Unfortunately, the suit was just too cumbersome to move around in. Any shot of Robocop in the car, was because he had no robo-pants on. It's also why the now famous movie poster, shows him with just his foot on the car door frame. He couldn't get in.

The Genesis game has some interesting Gameplay. The old Data East arcade game was a traditional slow protagonist shooters. Realtime seems to have known they should dump the quarter dumping style of the original and make the game fun and winnable. It's amazing how console developers failed to make the game winnable because Nintendo or whoever thought that if we rented a game and didn't beat it in a day because were completely frustrated by the game being cheaply spiking difficulty early we would decidedto buy the game instead of never wanting to see it again. They looked at Contra's home game sequels, but they seem to have also wanted to keep much of the feel of the Data East game. So Robocop walks slowly and flies when he hanging on a wire. For much of the game he's kind of got stupid weapons vs the enemies. Trying to play the game again, there was an sudden difficulty spike on the third boss. Robocop is required to jump and grab and doing so was not reliable. Failure to move could lead to almost an immediate loss of a life as there was moment of invincibility when being hit. I suspect once I got the motion down it wouldn't be a problem since the boss wasn't fast, but the way the robot life drained here (and under some flame traps) left the game with a rough around the edges feel despite the quality of the graphics and sound. Still, I think this was a pretty solid game on the Genesis. Unlike the SNES version. I don't know why they made it look so different when they didn't need to (Except the obligatory Mode 7 level).

Different developers is one of the reasons why games were so different. Just look at the six different Batman returns games on the various systems all by six different developers. I sure did love the arcade Robocop game.

Interesting you covering a console exclusive. That one spread gun looks like Robocop is shooting coins.

@patmanqc I don't mind a few adverts but watching this there were 21 in total from a 27 min video, probably KZbin trying to squeeze more money, but really did spoil it as I couldn't get in to it.

You have got to be kidding me, 21 advertisements? I put one at the beginning and one in the middle and that is it. I'm so sorry.

@@PatmanQC-Arcade-Documentaries no worries I presume it's KZbin trying to get some sligh cash as seems today every video every 2-3 mins there are a couple of adverts, and just watched one with 4 adverts in one go. Getting ridiculas so I know it's not you doing it as been watching your channel for a long time over a couple of accounts. And you produce some very fine quality content. I usually leave the adverts running comment or like ect to help the creater. As it's so little to do in order to help out how I can.

I think the Sega Genesis version of this game served as template for the Demolition Man, Stargate and Judge Dredd games. But they say that the Snes version of Judge Dredd is better.
