@@thingsiplay Poor wording on my part, haha. I probably should have said "if you have two windows in your room and can see a moon in its entirety in each window when you take a step back". Which is kinda what the SMS game is doing, since the different moons appear on the same screen.

@@armorvil I think the view is displayed from the perspective of the character you play. Yes, from the perspective of the player it is not right, but I think the designer had the other way in mind. Off course this could have been better, but hey, at least it is not totally wrong. :-) BTW I never played the games, so not defending any fanboism here. :D

I recently saw Ray Parker Jr. on a rerun of Gimme a Break. It had a great premise and was very funny. Yes, I am out of touch. And they did get a "Who you gonna call?" joke in there. Anyway, imagine if saving gasoline was that easy in real life? I had the Master System game as a kid. Somehow, I managed to figure most of it out and did enjoy it. I revisited it back in 2017 and still enjoyed it, as I settled back into it like no time had passed at all. I remembered everything within a few minutes. I'm not going to say it's good or bad, I'm fine with either assessment, but it's playable and I'm surprised I figured so much out so young. It's essential to know what the items in the shop do and how to use them. You can go with cheaper items to save money but do much more driving, or get the better stuff to save from making as many trips back to HQ. There's also an item that can prevent Stay Puft from destroying the buildings near the end of phase one. And speaking of Stay Puft, getting by him in phase two is pretty easy. You just need to approach the door from the side and time his jumping. Phase three with the stairs was always super tough, though I could get past it now and then as a kid when I was six or seven. There's definitely some luck involved. I never did beat Gozer/Gorza as a kid. I also never beat Bubsy! I was expecting to see Bubsy in this video and was starting to wonder about that as it got toward the end. Anyway, I enjoyed watching.

It was pretty obvious for those who knew both these games. While I think SMS version is better, for some reason NES version looks and feels appealing for me. I guess it's because Atari 2600 had some part in my childhood so the graphics and overall style just works for me. One little trivia rarely anyone mention is in NES version you can open doors on stairs screen. I don't remember full details, but those doors can either have nothing in them, can give you a bonus or an item (not sure about it) and can contain a ghost that will one hit kill your party.

You forget that Ghostbusters afterlife counts as a third movie forcing on new heroes. So the video game is a 2.5 version after the 2nd Ghostbusters movie because you're playing the rookie Ghostbusters not the 4 main characters.

I unironically loved the SMS version. The item and car variety was problably what caused my obsession in builds for the rest of my life. The yellow car was the most balanced for instance while the Ecto-1 was the second slowest but had the most cargo space. The first or fresh playthrough was also something to consider since with low money you had to choose between getting a bad car or the bare essential items. The stairs level was very brutal though, sometimes even after you get good at it. The whole level is a bit janky and some enemies can really bring the cheese (usually on a flying plate to your face)

Another awesome video guys! I agree that the Sega version is better but sadly, I only had the inferior NES game growing up. Brings back some good memories though. Here are a few more ideas for games you can compare: Chuck Rock Death and Return of Superman The Incredible Hulk Spider-Man/X-Men: Arcade’s Revenge Pac-Man 2: The New Adventures Aahhh! Real Monsters Rock ‘n Roll Racing Can’t wait for the next one!

Watching this on October 31st, so Happy Halloween guys! 🎃 I freaking LOVE Ghostbusters! I don't think there was any contest on which one of these games was worst. I remember going to "K-Mart" in the 90's, back when they were still selling NES games, and I saw the NES game. I at first thought it was one I rented from my local video store, but it was solely based on the first movie, and it was IMPOSSIBLE. While the "Ghostbusting" sections were sorta fun, I could never get to that staircase, I don't even remember if did make it to the staircase, but if I did, I couldn't do it. At least the Sega MS game made their staircase playable. Great Episode dudes, keep on bustin'. :D

Go back and look at the moons out of the windows of the stairs on the SMS. Each one is in a different position. Its not 3 moons, its the same moon being see out of different floors. That was how much detail they put in that there.

Great episode, it was a good choice. Wonder Boy SMS vs. Adventure Island NES. Make it happen, Cap'n! I'm ashamed it took me this long to figure out the hint for the next episode, I've been recommending that game for a while! The Sega version is my preference for 🎪?(gotta love the Sega non-squished screen resolution), but I don't own the SNES version, I think the colors were way better on SNES.

Never had the game back in the day, but it’s definitely cool to see comparisons between the Nintendo Entertainment System and Sega Master System versions! Nice work boys! 👍 You deserve the love you need! It’s ironic that you’re both criticising your own consoles, and I love it!

This was not a contest, Sega had the better Ghostbusters game(s). The NES GB games was just rushed projects while the SMS had a more polished version of the game !!!

With the stairs glitch/hidden secret the NES game is much easier to play and beat. You can also beat the final boss by moving the screen up and down, it takes forever. But winning the funist version to play for me, is NES version.

Nice, a SMS VS NES episode! My only complaint is the overlay used for the gameplay footage. The Stay-Puft Marshmallow Man's goofy face was a bit distracting.

Awesome vid! The winner (loser) was clear from the start, but the path to reaching that result was a wild ride! On a side note, during the ending sequence I had one recurring thought; is Dan really tall, or is Pat really short?

Good word as usual, gents. You really tried to make this competition not so one-sided, even though there was only so much you could do. A couple of tidbits: -) Despite what the US release dates suggest, the NES port of Ghostbusters is actually older than the Sega version. IT was developed and published in Japan in 1986 by Tonkin House, so it came out a year BEFORE the Sega version, wich never saw a Japanese release. -) The stairs sequence and final battle with Gozar were added bonuses to both console versions. The computer game originally ended atfer you get past Stay-Puft into the Zuul building.

I thought the NES game was bad. I only have the Sega Master System version and it's a decent game despite the difficulty. Other Ghostbuster games I recommend are New Ghostbusters 2 on NES, the Sega Genesis game and Ghostbusters REMASTERED on PS4, Xbox One and Switch. What is New Ghostbusters 2? Well, it's a game made by HAL. Same company that made Kirby, Earthbound and the Super Smash Bros series. It's the best Ghostbusters game on the NES. Superior than the Activision games.
