The crummy thing about Outrun was also losing 5-7 seconds anytime you crashed. Do it more than once and you might as well restart the map. Was happy when I first played Crusin’ USA and found that this was not an issue

The Cruis'n series is definitely some of my favorite Arcade racing titles. Every time I go to the Arcade, movie theater, or pizza joint, and I see a Cruis'n game there, it was definitely my go-to Arcade game I would play. I remember back in 2017, I tried Cruis'n Blast at Dave & Buster's, and it was a lot of fun. Of course it got released on the Nintendo Switch and it is STILL a blast to play albeit no online multiplayer modes.

The Cruisin’ games are a fondly remembered part of my childhood. The local pizza place in my tiny hometown had the stand up version and it was one I always played when my parents took me. When USA came out on the N64 I scrounged up from my jobs delivering papers and mowing lawns to get it. I spent SO many hours playing it! Honestly, what the game needs is to have the Wii title of Cruis'N' to totally be redone, as well as to make an equivalent to the Super Mario All-Stars/Super Mario Collection/Super Mario All-Stars and Super Mario World bundle pack, but with the Cruis'N' games, and, hopefully, with the permission of the proper parties, to have the additional The Fast and the Furious, as well as The Fast and the Furious: Super Bikes, games ported to the Switch in this collection, as well as to also add bonus games, such as Excitebike 64, Excite Truck, and the entire Excitebike series, including the FDS/Japanese games, into the collection as well.

Awesome video as always. I adore Cruisn' USA and its sequels. Its such a shame that most aren't playable in MAME still... as the N64 ports whilst ok (especially when upscaled) don't play the same. I was really hopeful Eugene would release a Cruisn' series compilation on the Switch... but at least we got Blast. One thing to note is Cruisn' also came out on the Wii which was basically Fast & Furious arcade game with a name swap. The Wii struggled to run it though. I am so desperate to play this again in the arcade... Arcade Club in the UK had a stand up once when I went years ago there... but it got replaced... Each time I go in the queue at Arcade Club they have a Cruisn Exotica not working which rubs it in to me as I never got to play it in the arcades only on the N64. I do adore Raw Thrill games and really wish they released their games in the home... So many from their Super Cars, Super Bikes, Dirty Drivin' etc are pure heaven and more people need to play it. I was really hoping this would happen after Cruisn' Blast got released... but I guess sales weren't great.

1. The arcade machines have special inputs for the secret vehicles, you can play as a semi and other things as well. 2. You can PIT the cars and basically cheat to win.

I had no idea about the semi trucks

Ha, those selectable songs for Outrun were something else. ;) Outrun, I wish had continues but a classic arcade game. Hard Drivin' was cool, but very tough at first. Crusin' USA was a fun game and a little easier for me than Outrun. Thanks for the great reviews and console versions, Patman!

I loved the Cruis’n games. I also played Raw Thrills’ TMNT game. Me and a friend of mine have played that to completion a few times.

I went to a local Geeks Mania Arcade place in town that had all the old arcade racing games, including 2 Cruis'n USA cabinets.. MAN I forgot how small the steering wheels are on that cabinet! Easily the smallest steering wheel (must've been made for children only) of any arcade racing cabinet I have seen. They had San Francisco Rush as well but one of the cabinets was in rough shape and barely worked. So they do have head-to-head action at the Geeks Mania Arcade in town, but the machines are kind of worn down (and a lot of the arcade cabinet's have either very bad CRT's or LCD screens with bad scaling and wrong aspect ratios, etc. Not on the racing machines but on most other arcade games), but it was cool seeing two Cruis'n USA cabinets for head to head gameplay.

Honestly it's been a long time since I played an actual cabinet so I couldn't tell you about the size of the wheel. That sounds really cool, where is that at

Oh yes, it is a local place near our Dave & Busters here in Madison, Wisconsin. It is about $15 a day per person (was $12 a few years ago), but if you bring kids or family under 15 you get a family rate of $10 a day, so we took a Saturday and went for 3-4 hours in the morning, then came back for more fun 9pm-midnight, pool tables, ski ball, air hockey, a huge 8 person dual projector X-Men Arcade machine, The Simpsons and TMNT Arcades, all the fun ones. The Cruis'N USA machines are in the racing machine area (lots of oldschool ones you probably remember), and when I sat down to play it I thought "Man, I haven't played this game in Arcades since I was a kid, and I mostly played it on the N64 with my friend, but this steering wheel is TINY in comparison to other racing games!" Now when I was a kid the steering wheel felt normal, so maybe that's why they did it, but now that I'm an adult and have driven a car and school bus and all kinds of stuff it seems like a tiny baby toy. The force feedback was still pretty good, but the game does get old quick when you don't have someone to race with (my wifes boys didn't want to play some of the games I did haha), and the A.I. in Cruis'N must've been set to hard because I could not beat anyone to save my life. I do have some crazy nostalgia for Cruis'N USA though, I really loved that game as a kid and played it A TON on the N64 with my friend at that time. That and Wayne Gretzky's 3D Hockey are what I remember most. Still a great game, it is a bit simplistic but I always like games that had traffic to dodge and stuff to run over.@@PatmanQC-Arcade-Documentaries

Sounds like a great place. I was in Milwaukee a few years ago for the Midwest gaming classic which was pretty cool. I've also been at galloping ghost once which was unreal@@casedistorted

I can't remember if this easter egg was in the Rush or one of these Cruis'n N64 games but when you went to enter your initials and tilted the analog stick left for a few minuets you hear a voice saying something and the developer's head appeared on the conveyor belt.

Okay, about the third song in Outrun, it's called "Magical Sound Shower". Not "Magical Golden Shower". That's just gross.

@PatmanQC-Arcade-Documentaries finished watching it would be great to see more in-depth coverage of the other Cruis N games. The only 2 I never played was Cruis N Blast and Cruis N on the Wii. I recently found a Cruis N game on the GBC too.
