I wish other people would listen to song writers like yourself or people like us swifties when we say she is an incredible songwriter and not to judge her from her radio hits. I’ve finally had to tell a few people “Well if you don’t think so I guess you can take it up with Sir Paul McCartney and Bruce Springsteen since they both think she is one of the greatest songwriters there is” Paul McCartney has even changed release dates on albums before to not compete with her and she does visa versa with him because they have so much respect for each other.

I’m not one to judge over age gaps- Jake was 29 going on 30, Taylor was 20 going on 21- but just over the past month I’ve been realizing how traumatizing they can be when the older lover is toxic and plays games. I fell in love with a 37 year old man when I was 21. And let me tell you… when he left I was devastated, just like Taylor was. Happy you posted this. I recently discovered the 10-minute version and have been watching reactions like crazy! It’s always nice to see your genuine reactions.

I really truly feel like All Too Well healed something in me. Anyone who has been been so in love with someone, only to be "kept like a secret" and heartbroken in the end, knows that this song was written out of grief. But this song really helped me process a lot of internal shit, and I will always be grateful to Taylor Alison Swift for giving us this little piece of her soul.

This song is a masterpiece. Those lyrics and the pictures she paints with them, that's true storytelling. Nothing more to say. By the way, it's not an extended version. It's how the song started. It needed to be cut down for the album.

Her ability to mine her feelings and memories and render a lyric we can all relate to is phenomenal. They teach Taylor Swift lyrics in university creative writing courses now. As a novelist, I'm in awe. And taking notes. The specific details paired with haunting emotion and poetic wording -- *chef's kiss*. Thanks, Cliff, for a great reaction to a Swift masterpiece.

5:46 -- Yep, that little smile is unavoidable at the "dancing round the kitchen in the refrigerator light" lyric lol. Oh my goodness I was crying like a baby.

The song is about her relationship with Jake G. The 10 min version doesn’t take away from the original song structure. She wrote the song to be this long but had to cut it down because the record company didn’t want that long of a song on the Red album. When she re-recorded her “Taylor’s Version”, she added the entire 10 minute version as a vault track. Please also watch the All Too Well short film on KZbin. It’s amazing and really brings the whole song together with visuals. Taylor directed it as well and it has actors Sadie Sink and Dylan O’Brien and they are great in it.

Swift’s exceptional at writing about so many kinds of relationships, including business relationships. Some of her most powerful songwriting has revolved around the masters debacle. Genius of her to write those in such a way that people who don’t know anything about that whole issue might assume a romantic relationship, making those songs even more relatable to everyone.

'And you call me up again just to break me like a promise' is a reference to another song of hers called The moment I knew. She was having her 21st birthday party and he promised her that he would be there, but he never showed up. He later called her to say sorry for not being there. He broke her like he broke his promise to show up.

#cliffbeats Taylor’s lyricism is remarkable, she uses phrasing and words to put the image in your head with out you broke my heart... you see it instead. 12:39 around this time mark you were like, how do you know what is in my head. I always say Taylor Swift lives in my head... not just a summer home.. no, no... she LIVES there. Again she writes from a heart, Soul, Spirit, feeling... it’s not just rhyming words on a page and I’m an OG Swifty and I prefer the original but because of this tour and to see her face... she does remember (not misses but remembers), because of that, this has drawn me in. I’m also not a swear word girl.... most of the time misused but I had to realize, she grew up and so this was a transition for me as her fan going “Wait, what? Are they bleeping those on Disney+? 😂”. So we move with her. Like I am divorced and this song really hits hard and different, but these new kids and fans just feel it like Jake hurt Taylor and I’m like, “yea, I remember it all too well.... I’d like to be my old self again but I’m still trying to find it... that lyric is me daily!! She makes me believe that I can find love again because I would really love too. Thank you so much for not just dismissing her and for really getting deep into the lyrics and okay I get the joke, the point she is making, stabbing you in the heart feelings... even in her faster music and you also appreciate it for the art she is putting out there in the world. Taylor loves all kinds of music and she prefers to be called a songwriter/singer. I love how she’s not drunk dancing at the award shows even though they say she is. No, she’s not drunk until the afterparty, that’s just Taylor being Taylor and not caring what others think. She is an artists artist and wants to show appreciation. Great reaction!!!

Yes, it’s about Jake Gyllenhaal. But the Red Scarf 🧣 has a secondary meaning. It’s often said she lost her virginity to him. That’s the meaning behind the scarf.
