Just to give you some context here. This entire album is inspired by Edgar Allen Poe. And Marianas Trench closes out every album with an epic song that ties together musical themes from the entire album. They have a lot more standard punk-rock/pop punk songs but in all of them Josh's voice is like this. He has crazy range and sounds just as good live. Josh Ramsey the lead singer said this album wanted to feel like a descent into madness. This song isn't necessarily as murderous as it might sound but it's someone going insane. The ending has been interpreted as the lover finally being able to let his lover go and be okay with it. I've also seen some people say the ending specifically (not the rest of the song thankfully) is a double entendre for Ramsey himself and his wife asking her to stay and realizing she's worth it, but I can't remember where I heard that so take it with a grain of salt.

While this is one of my favs of theirs probably not the one I would have started with. Jumping over to Patreon to slide Astoria into the rotation

@@Foodmancing Agreed. This song is a great listen but not the best first impression cause you’re missing a lot of context. Josh totally wrote this about the tangled web that was his & Amanda’s relationship, given they were considering getting together after SHE stood him up at the altar.

Also Marianas Trench is quite popular here in Canada and very well loved. But for some reason the success hasn't totally transferred internationally which is a shame.

Canadian here, Marianas Trench is one of my all time fav bands. The video that was playing in the background is actually from a different song (Fallout) which is from a different album (Ever After) which has a completely different theme (fairy tale). I highly recommend you take a listen to Ever After (the song & the album)!

well that's weird. this is why usually take the videos from a given artist's channel themselves, but i miss sometimes.

Please do a reaction to pop 101. It's a great song that's based on how pop artist nowadays basically just copy and paste because everything sounds the same. Also check out desperate measures, fall out, and stutter.
