We see an explosion of pancreatic cancers. Amazing the procedures performed on these patients , we, if we are in the OR's that participate in these procedures, never get to see the results. We just witness the radical surgeries, hoping to eliminate the cancer, while pumping chemo in these patients. I do not have the statistics after these efforts. Maybe I should try harder to find them. I know one thing ! I would not want these " treatments " myself. I would die, on my own, without the intervention of the medical community I am part of. That is my personal opinion and choice. I am 78, still working PRN and in great shape. I refuse the flu shots, eat organic and stay thin and fit. What else ? I will go on my terms. No whining, preaching, evaluating....bah....we all go. What is the big deal ? be kind to all, humans and animals ! forget about ego and see that we are ; a grain of sand, on a very large beach.......then, we leave the organic and we join that energy that makes us the magical creatures we could be, if we tried ; maybe a little harder ? it is all subjective.

I tell you that is something I miss in my life (as tears start rolling down my face)... I was a photojournalist, great times until I covered OIF (Operation Iraqi Freedom). A very intense job that most viewers don't think of what takes place on some news stories other than it can be depressing, like having to scrap body parts off the bottom of ones boots or feeling powerless when unable to help someone in a life and death situation. When we were hit by an IED (about ten years ago now) that was the end of my career, my marriage (she left me for a doctor) and my health so much loss since then. The tables had turned now it was me that was broken and had to be put back together. With multiple spine injuries and no family each day is difficult. I have stared into the eyes of death so many times and crossed over (flat lined) and brought back. I must say I am so ready for the end but it's not up to me. On Sept.19th I turn 50, ten days from now and it's a day I don't look forward too. I miss sharing my life w/ someone special and not having loved ones to call to see to visit, it makes each day that much harder being alone and physically limited. I feel a void with these limitations. I don't mean to sound like a child or some ungrateful mid age crisis bitter weakling. I do know even if this doesn't get read I do feel a little better just by getting this confession of feelings out of my system, if only for a moment. Because that's all we really have in this life, moments. A bunch of good and bad moments and when I reflect back at my life it's been awesome. I've been places done things meet people, stuff that people only see on TV, I was the guy behind that camera and then some making the ordinary extraordinary. How many people get to travel the world and get paid to do so, meet celebs(I wasn't one to be star struck), meet Kings and Queens. Speaking of Kings I hung out w/ B.B. King on his tour bus and jammed w/ the King. Getting backstage @ the Blues Fest and much, much more. This life has been a great ride. Now that I have begun to reflect, Mr. Gordon I must say what I miss is being loved getting and giving a hug and appreciating the little things. The little things in each moment. Peace

el Flaco 66 If you live near the SF bay area, let me know. I've got a bear hug and a bear on reserve for you! You're is a remarkable story but I hope you're not giving up because every day that you're here is a day that something wonderful can happen for you and that wonderful thing can come out of nowhere and bite you right in the heart in a good way. You've done some things that I can't imagine and I'm SUUUUPER jealous of you hanging out with B.B. King. By the way; don't worry about sounding like a child or showing weakness. I've been in that role of "Mr. Big Badass" most of my life but it took my wife and children to teach me that it's ok to be weak sometimes. I'll admit that it's easier to allow weakness when I know my family is there to catch me. However, I've seen too many people find someone that fits them in so many circumstance to think there isn't someone for you too. Just have your eyes open so you don't miss them. I don't know you from Adam but I sense a good heart in you and those are the ones that I hope keep beating.

It pisses me off how insensitive how some of these interviewers are.The man was dying come on.Really you're gonna ask him how many months he thinks he is going to live?
@jeffjinglehimer855610 жыл бұрын
I agree, that was bad for her to ask him that. You could see he was in pain. Walters has always been cold when she interviews.
@taylorbiedenfeld340710 жыл бұрын
True dat its very rude to ask someone that when they know their in great pain expectually if its stage four.

Patrick was such a down to Earth, lovable guy. He really was. Never let stardom go to his head. It was a tragedy when that bastard cancer took him away. Towards the end, you wouldn't even recognize him. Cancer is just evil.

I was working out today when this interview popped up. I dont know why I never saw this before but my father also passed away from stage 4 pancreatic cancer. He was put on this "trial drug" from MD Anderson & he had 3 years which is unbelievable & almost unheard of. The miracle from this was that my dad & I got to restore our relationship during this time & he was my anchor and got to see me get sober (& I still am today) ❤

I've never heard an interview with Patrick Swayze before so had no idea what he was actually like. What a sweet humble man. Positive and yet practical. A big heart and a beautiful wise soul. I bet he's with his Dad now. Touching to see his honesty and openness. Be at peace Patrick.

@James Henderson > What is your point and what does that have to do with anything I posted? Why would you be glad ANYONE abused themselves by drinking and or smoking? All of us know people who drink too much and smoke too much. I think it is stupid, but to say I am glad they do it is just plain ridiculous. I will not reply to any more of your posts, you are not the kind of person I would ever care to deal with.

The most painful thing to watch in the clip: he is saying the last line in Ghost, "the love inside...you take it with you", and Lisa bursts into laugh. And this is during one of the most cruel and barbarian interviews I've ever seen (Barbara pestering him about his death and how much time he has left). May love and peace carry you forever Patrick; you will live in our hearts.

"It's amazing, Molly..the love inside - you take it with you." I confess, I teared up when he quoted the line from his movie "Ghost" to Barbara Walters during this interview. He knew he would pass..it was in his eyes, but one could tell this man truly believed love carries forward into the other realm where pain ceases to exist. And I don't have a shadow of a doubt that on the other side Patrick Swayze is full of the light and love he held for his wife, friends, and family as he possessed while on earth. Let this be a lesson to us all - love is brighter and bigger than the narrowed circumference of our lives. It's truth is powerful.
