For me personally, seeing that the rumors weren’t true and he just grew up and moved on to another life path was incredibly reassuring. He showed you can always follow your dreams, you can do what makes you happy even if others don’t understand you but to be appreciative of where you came from too. My heart melted when he went on to explain to children “I’m alive, I’m okay” when everyone was first worried many years ago. He truly cares about his audience and wanted to come back so everyone knew “it’s okay to grow up and move on, I did and I still love all of you!” Him and Mr Rogers will ALWAYS have a place in my heart.

i wasnt aware that being a punk rocker was mutually exclusive from being a genuine good soul. people who were and are in that scene are some of the most empathetic and principle driven people there are. aside from nazi punks the message of the punk scene is small or self government, social equality and a driving humanitarian nature along with a strong opposition to ecocide and the polluting of the earth.

You're proving my point there. At no point did I say I feel people in the punk scene aren't good people. I don’t have a problem with Joe/Donovan Patton (grew up during his and Steve Burns’s eras of “Blue’s Clues”). Steve may have set the trajectory, but Joe put just as much weight during his time as the show’s host. The latter may not be everyone’s cup of tea (and that’s fine). In case you’re wondering, I liked both Steve and Joe/Donovan equally. Honestly, most cases of those actors who hate their og shows arent hating on them bc they don't like kids, but bc of the abusive environment many producers and directors forced upon them. Or even a fandom that is now made of adults that refuses to understand that a fictional character is not their actor irl. A lot of those actors will always say that they loved their job but hated working on it, and that's mostly the reason why it happens. The resentment comes from very poor work ethics and there's a lot of unpaid work inside the industry, as well as bad cases of abuse, s^xual harassment, grooming, unchecked mental issues, drug use enforsed by producers, and even more.

My brother still carries a tiny notebook in his pocket to write stuff that he observes. He is on the Autism Spectrum. He learned how to write/draw what he observes from Blue's Clues. He was so upset about Steve leaving the show that Mom kept reruns for him. When he talked on Twitter, my Mom made sure to watch it with my brother. Even as an adult, he got choked up. He was finally able to start watching the newer Blue's Clues with his daughter. It's kind of weird. Blue's Clues helped my brother get diagnosed early and he got the correct help.

One of the heroes who doesn't wear a cape... or a nurse scrub. Or a doctor coat. Battling mental health challenges is one of the hardest things especially for men in this day and age when we are belittled at every corner. I commend him for turning his horrible ordeal into a positive thing he can share with the world. To uplift and bring awareness to.

I was born in 1999, so Blues Clues is one of the very first shows I remember watching as a kid. As I grew older, I never had heard any of these insane (and just plain disrespectful) rumors about Steve's post-TV life. When he re-surfaced in 2017, the same year I graduated high school, it was the first I had heard ANYTHING about him since I was a toddler. Watching this video and discovering all these crazy theories about what may have happened to him is really weird. I'm so glad he went on to pursue his musical passions, but it's so strange that people would invent or believe that he was either dead or a druggie. Maybe I just don't remember the internet of the mid-2000s/2010s all that well after all...

Steve was always a kind and upbeat person in my mind, and I'm truly happy for him that he stayed as strong as he did over the years and it still helping and encouraging others. I have a story about Blue's Clues. When I was 25, I was watching my 4 year old niece. She was going through separation anxiety. Her mom and grandma had me watching her. They tried to leave without her noticing. Well, that didn't go too well. She cried for 20 minutes straight. I couldn't get her to stop for anything. I tried toys, rocking her, everything... Then I turned on Blue's Clues. Steve and the crew made her stop crying. I remember her sniffles stopping instantly. She's 26 now... And gets kind of embarrassed when I tell some of these stories but it's rare when I tell them. She taught me a lot about being that auntie and how much I love her.
