I would never tell someone “I’m a little lost” when you I called the client and I know the clients name. Rather say “I’m a bit confused, I have seen on our system that there was communication between our companies that was not concluded. Could we speak about that for a few minutes and give a reminder of what we do” most of these people don’t even read emails so they won’t know if there was or wasn’t previous communication.

Im literally using this now. Its funny how no matter the field, there will always be sales people who are looking for advice/tips but then shoot down and pick apart what people share. This is a pattern disrupt, its a way to get your foot in the door and disarm the prospect. By the time you start talking they have already forgotten about the im lost intro. His tonality shows confidence all the while disarming. Its a great opener. Just try different techniques for an extended time to see if it works, if it doesn't try something else! Everyone has a different style but for me it actually has worked well.

Interesting but still "salesy". Might it also be deceitful? You are not actually "lost", you know exactly where you want to go! However, I do like it. It is intriguing enough for the prospect for them to give you those few seconds to hook them. How else could you intrigue them without pretending to be "lost"?
@patrickdang3 жыл бұрын
You can start by just telling them what the purpose of your call is. So basically saying the same thing in the example but taking out “I’m a little lost”. But you got to be quick and confident to get them to agree to a short call.

@@seanoleary3428 yes exactly that is what it's used for. I've used it before to some limited success so it has its place. Another tool on the tool belt, but it's a fragile tool and there should be better word vocal tool usage. I've used "I'm a little lost, think I got the wrong extension, can you point me in the direction of X(who I want to speak to like a decision maker) and it's been useful at times but I use it rarely. It's better for a beginner's tip and works best against more friendly and helpful receptionists who are generally I think employees with less experience and more job security anxiety. But many companies will train their receptionists to spot sales calls and not ever let callers connect to certain departments or individuals. Like if you say I'm Lost, many people may see that as a trigger word and immediately shut you out, you've been spotted.

Crafting a compelling cold call opening line is essential for grabbing your prospect's attention. Consider personalized approaches that demonstrate value, address pain points, or offer unique insights. Experimentation and adaptation are key to finding the best opening line that resonates with your target audience and sets the stage for a successful conversation.

I'm not trying to sound ungrateful for your advise and/or success in this approach, but being on the East Coast, I could see getting the phone slammed on me with and without a sarcastic response from the prospect for appearing too aloof. It don't think it'll be cute to a businessman. It'll probably irritate him, thus, dislike me and I've always found that if a stranger finds something in my voice, wording, and style overall, that person will be more likely to follow my lead, or at the least, engage in a quick conversation. In most cases, though, there's both a collective and individual understanding to the receiver, that I'm down to earth through my manner of speaking that conveys confidence with a sense of humor. I wouldn't literally ever say that I'm a little lost an opener. If and when there's a chance of a name being wrong, then I'll respond accordingly, like a human. If there's an impulse for me to make a funny statement with that, then typically, my comedic timing is received - but, not always, which is fine. I learned humility through the stage as a musician years ago. Anyway, I appreciate the video for the inspiration of thought in reaction to it, since it means that I'd have to speak in observance of my own success throughout the decades of calling prospects for various businesses. My advise is to be pleasant in attitude, easy to get along with, have flexibility within any environ or objection that's apparent, and look at the prospect as someone you're serving and not selling. This way, the emphasis is on how the product or service is going to benefit the prospect with practicality.

Don’t ever start with “how are you doing” steam into their “wants” Example how to and not to close: Not to: So this looks good right? The loan looks good right? As a professional mortgage banker it leads to more objections How to close: So obviously this makes a ton of sense so the next steps WE (remember we are a “team we are doing this “together”) are gonna do IS walk through a verbal application Remember true sales: objections are buying sale This is good right… nope We are moving forward… do NOT use questions
