The Lightning port really doesn't anger me at all so I'll be keeping my existing Space Grey AirPods Max. Really no point to upgrade just for USB-C especially since my M1 iMac still uses Lightning cables anyway for the Magic Keyboard and Trackpad so I just use those when I need to charge my AirPods Max.

Nobody 'needs' these, grabbed the starlight set for myself after I sold on my gen 1 lightning versions earlier this year...must say if you're invested in the apple ecosystem and have the cash they so lovely to use...but for a refresh to not have the H2 chip or even an all new one for £500 is criminal. Switching between Mac, iPad, iPhone and Apple TV in a house that contains two toddling monsters - the brilliant noise cancellation is reason enough for me to have a set. would love to see a comparison to the Beats Studio pro! I think they're the more sensible choice for apple users

If u want spatial audio on any Apple Device u do indeed need these. Only 3 other companies offer hardware that can produce spatial audio. Apple figured it out 6 years ago before everyone else.

Love these. Got them a couple days ago. Tried Sony XM5 and Bose QuietComfort Ultra but they both had issues. AirPods Max is perfect. Breathable and dry. Comfortable for side sleeping. Can be used while charging. Switches between Apple devices instantly.

It blows my mind that you can’t connect 3.5mm jack connector to the USB-C via any cables, not even an Apple one. Apple released a lighting to 3.5mm for the previous gen but no usbc-3.5mm cable works for these new ones. All I want to do is use these on flights and connect to the IFE! Literally a deal breaker for me.

So thank you for this video. My wife made a mistake and bought me the Lighting Cable Version for me as a gift, for our anniversary (despite me specifically asking for and her waiting for the USB-C Version to be released. Somehow she still made the mistake and got the Lighting Version, I have no idea how 🤷). I was going to sale and the ones I have and get the USB-C Version. However, since the charging port and colors seem to be the only difference, and due to me having an IPhone 14 that still uses a Lighting Cable, I will be keeping the ones I have.

Hard to say, audio is very subjective. I prefer the Airpods Max, also because of the stemless integration with Apple products. But yeah the XM5s are excellent so I'm sure they will be great.

I suspect on why the hearing aid feature or adaptive audio is not available on the APM is because it's over-the-ear, your ears are literally incased in an aluminum cups, I believe hearing aid/adaptie audio is not going to be very effective that way.

Love my AirPod Pro 2, I use them everyday, fantastic for air travel and my main job of driving road trains in Australia, the size and able to use one in ear with ANC is fantastic. Might I also add that they are the ONLY in ear buds that actually stay in my ears, I have wide open ear canal and everything else fell out, jaybird tray pro,Bose buds etc I just got a pair of Bose Ultra headphones and I must say the “Hey Siri” function (without pressing the volume shortcut button” is a big negative!!! Not sure if updated Max is worth the $$

I use my headphones everyday commuting to and from work. It’s important enough to start and end my day with music or watching movies for that whole day. Reasons I bought this headphone, V2024, it comes in midnight color, nice design, great ANC and durability. I don’t have the need to use the cable listening to music and whatsoever cause I do charge my devices and prep them for next day. The Apple ecosystem is just so friendly user. These headphones last like they should , 3 years tops on a daily usage , I believe. That’s being said, if it’s resale value will still hold some if I were to sell this after 2 years usage. That’s Apple product for you.

( all of the sessions around 8 - 9 hours per session) average heartrate around 80 - 90. room temp around 18 degrees celcius. after cleaning and drying them today i just removed the ear caps again and condens was allready building up. I don't know what to think atm. I am planning to call Apple support on monday, and ask them for advice/technical suport.

I literally bought same colour of airpod max even though I love the my airpods pro 2 with incredible H2 chip. The colour I was sold me even its such a small incremental change and I wouldn’t even call it an upgrade, the welcome switch to usb-c and variety of colours option. I wouldn’t recommend it in the financial stand point as its so pricey but if you have money to waste then go ahead. I bought silicon case for the aluminium part of the headphone as the case totally don’t provide any protection at all. Overall, great review and content!!!

I’m not surprised at all that the Max doesn’t have the hearing aid features and other items that the regular AirPods do. Using the Max is more of a serious listening experience - that’s why it’s very surprising that they didn’t upgrade the chip to provide direct, lossless cable connectivity to the IPhone or even upgrade the Bluetooth standard to 5.3. Seems like they just aren’t interested in selling any more of them than they have in the past. It’s the same with the HomePods - they reintroduce the large size HomePod with fewer features and a similar price and very few folks buy it. It seems like Apple is focusing resources on the smaller AirPods only, and they join the iPhone and Apple Watch as the core idevices from Apple.

I bought them to replace some tired AirPods Max I use for Apple TV box (they work very well) and you tube vids on my Mac, I dont use them for music as have another brand for that. I got 50% of the cost of the new ones by selling my old APM to a third party seller company, so paid £250 + my old APM income (£250) for new ones, When I factored in it would have been £75 for just new ear cups it added up to invest a new pair for me as I use them daily.

Meanwhile the Beats Studio Pro has a 3.5 AND USB-C, where you can listen to lossless audio. Plus ANC, Transparency Mode, spatial audio, double the battery life at 40 hours (versus 20), Bluetooth 5.3 and weighs 260g (versus 384g) for $160 right now. At full retail they were less than half...Make that make sense.

I had mine 2 years and 1 month and they died. applecare was expired and they will not help with anything. at the apple store another customer had the exact same issue. 2 years and 1 month. i am just amazed. and then I find out apple will only give you applecare for 2 years and will not extend it for any of their earphones.

They are overpriced, under engineered.. and I had an original pair brick on me so I have absolute disgust for the Airpods Max. But I used them every single day, love the integration into my phone, apple TV, and everything I used them for.. so even when my first pair bricked and I swore I'd never buy another set of these, I broke down and bought another pair lol. Just make sure, and I can't stress this enough to anyone buying, GET THE APPLECARE with the Max's!! That being said, I have found that the USB-C is a awesome upgrade, even if the other upgrades didn't happen. Yep, I'm a sucker, but I love them.

Yes... It hurt to hear what Mark Ellis (and now you) had to say about these. It's very sad Apple hasn't put in that H2 chip. Maybe next time, the Airpods Max will skip to an H3 or H4 chip or something. And also...they get rid of that AWFUL case and put in a power button. I still use my wired Earpods for the most part. My 1st-gen Airpods I bought years ago still work great in my house...probably because I don't use them much and haven't worn out the batteries. I use my old wired ones out in public since I'm less likely to drop or lose them. This OAP can't afford to be buying new AirPods when he loses them.🤣 Aloha! 👍

USB-C is a downgrade. They are much more likely to be damaged. Additionally, Apple has removed the lossless connection with a cable adapter with a jack.

@@PatrickRambles It isn't a problem Patrick, I just can't use conventional earbuds or headphones. However, those new AirPods Pro 2 with the hearing aid capability sound like they might be perfect for folks like me. I hope you plan on reviewing them.

I returned mine because you can't listen wired in, it's just charging thru USB-C. I found myself in a situation where I forgot to charge them and I wanted to take them with me on the road. No battery, no headphones. The first gen doesn't do that, so I bought a pre-owned first gen (back, because I sold those to get the gen 2) and I'm back to the original version. Maybe next time.
